The Iguvine Tablets are a series of seven bronze tablets discovered at Gubbio (ancient Iguvium), Italy, in the year 1444. Currently housed in the Civic Museum of the Palazzo dei Consoli in Gubbio, they are also known as the Eugubian Tablets or Eugubine Tables. The earliest tablets were probably written in the 3rd century BC in the native Umbrian alphabet, the latest in the 1st century BC in the Latin alphabet.
The tablets contain religious inscriptions that memorialize the acts and rites of the Atiedian Brethren, a group of 12 priests of Jupiter with important municipal functions at Iguvium. They are written in the Umbrian language, and are by far the longest and most important document of any of the Osco-Umbrian group of languages, closely related to Latin.

This memorial shrine, as this tablet explains, was dedicated to the 577 members of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish of East Orange, New Jersey, a parish that no longer exists due to changes in that city's demographics, who fought in World War II.
Of the 577 men and women from that church who fought in the Second World War, only fourteen died, a miraculous survival record. Ironically, the parish itself closed as its mainly white parishoners moved farther away from nearby Newark and mostly Protestant blacks moved in. East Orange, New Jersey is now one of the most overwhlemingly black cities in America.
The shrine was moved out of its original location and moved to its current location in Caldwell.
The shrine was rededicated there in 1999.
These tablets are the oldest surviving examples of handwriting in Britain, and were found on the site of the Vindolanda Roman fort in Northeast England. There are hundreds of fragments altogether, written on thin pieces of wood. They date from about 100AD.
This particular one is a birthday invitation, written by a woman asking her friend to a party.
"Claudia Severa to her Lepidina greetings. On 11 September, sister, for the day of the celebration of my birthday, I give you a warm invitation to make sure that you come to us, to make the day more enjoyable for me by your arrival, if you are present (?). Give my greetings to your Cerialis. My Aelius and my little son send him (?) their greetings.
(Second hand) I shall expect you, sister. Farewell, sister, my dearest soul, as I hope to prosper, and hail. "

I made this basket and contents for Gabrielle von Njenrode for her second reign as Queen of the East Kingdom.
Unfortunately many of the items in the basket are obscured in this image, and I foolishly didn't think to take individual photographs. But the full contents of the basket are:
* Basket - To make the basket just a little fancier, I wrapped the handles with criss-crossing ribbons in Gabrielle's colors.
* Notepad Holder - You can see this standing up in the background, embroidered with Gabrielle's arms. On the inside of the notepad holder a half-size writing tablet slips into a sleeve, and a pocket is sewn into the opposite side for storing loose papers. There is also a small loop that holds a pen against the spine of the holder.
* Water Bottle Cover - Seen in the foreground and also embroidered with Gabrielle's arms, the water bottle cover holds a standard sports water bottle. Lined with heat reflective fabric and insulated with batting, the cover helps to keep the water chilled.
* Personal Kit - This is a fabric case which holds various personal items such as a brush, comb, mirror, lip balm, nail clippers, toothbrush, wet naps, etc. The case is embroidered with a design of a brush and hand mirror.
* Sewing Kit - Another fabric case, this time embroidered with a design of a needle and thread, holds needles, thread, safety pins, scissors, fray-check, and other items useful for emergency repairs.
* First Aid Kit - This is a simple first aid kit, containing bandaids, antiseptic, tweezers, painkillers, decongestant, etc., all packed away in a bandaid box. The box is then tucked into a pouch embroidered with the badge of the Chirurgeonate.
* Pouch - This is just a fabric pouch embroidered with Gabrielle's arms. I included it so that she could carry whatever else she might need, such as money, keys, etc.
The Tablet Frame is available in any colour. This is an example of frames painted in an stylish metallic grey.
