Yes, this is my table lamp...yes, it is gaudy...but I love it! Was sitting on the sofa working on renaming my file prefix on the Canon EOS 5D MKIII. I had my EF100mm f2.8 Macro Lens on and wanted to take a test shot to see if my changes had taken. I turned to the table lamp and took a shot...and then 243 more. I tried to identify this lamp and the closest thing that I could come up with is Capodimonte Majolica. Happy New Year!

I made a second obscuratic device from black cotton cloth. This one has a narrow aperture to accomodate my taste for the square picture format. Oh god what a relief to be shooting square again. After just a few days of the conventional rectangular format I was starting to have withdrawal symptoms.
No it's not the Hobart Phase at all. Not like time is running backwards or anything. Really it's a machine-turned onyx table lamp that used to belong to my dead friend's dead mother, and a few books in the background. The wires in the bottom corner lead to the primary winding of a power transformer sitting on my desk. It was supposed to go into some amplifiers I built for Holly's band but it turned out I ordered one transformer too many.
