Work table of Mr Philip Tay, the main man of De Camera Consultant. It's a wonder he ever finds anything on this table.

But on a serious note, this man is officially competency certified by both Rollei and Hasselblad, and the talk in town is, if you treasure it, and if it's mechanical, send it to Philip Tay.

At 19.9mb and 6800+ pixels across, this is the closest I have come to Flickr's file size limit. Shot with Sensia 200. Great stuff. Just zoom in and take a look at the details on the glass bottle with a metal cap, on the right hand side of the picture.

I want to do something with this table. Sand it, of course, but not sure if I want to stain it or paint it.

Suggestions?

Table Mountain pine (Pinus pungens) has sharp-tipped, sturdy pine cones.

One of three Chris has made for his brother's office in D.C. in the past few years. This one is made of all reclaimed lumber.

The pouncing effect is interesting, but not really 'grain-y'. I still have to touch up the other red chair before staining it as well.

Finally finished finishing the finish on this small table for the front hall entry area of the house. The table is made of walnut with maple racing stripes for speed and agility. The shape of the top is kind of a modified octagon. Octagons are a theme around here: there's a small octagonal window above the front door, the front garden bed is octagonal. There's even an octagonal planter (or small umbrella stand) pictured on the floor there in the corner. Standard mortise and tenon joinery was used. The finish is about 4-6 coats of Minwax Wipe-On Poly (more on the top). I've been dawdling over this one all summer, nice to see it finally done.

A tall kamagong side table

Last Quarter, 19th century, Manila

Kamagong with brass mount

78.5 x 53 x 34.5 cm (31 x 21 x 13 1/2 in)

Made of precious dark kamagong wood, the tall tapering legs – with beautifully carved rings, cup and cylinder turnings and reeded shafts that terminate in blunt arrow feet separated by rings – support the two-piece top and frieze drawer. The drawer has a keyhole protected by an escutcheon, and old replacement pulls, which when opened reveals two compartments. A divided compartment to segregate money suggests the possibility that this may have been used at one point as a tienda table in a store.
