A large Rococo console table
Estimate: PHP 50,000 - 60,000
Last quarter, 19th century
San Isidro, Nueva Ecija
Red narra
86 x 147.5 x 57 cm (34 x 58 x 22 in)
Lot 440 of the Salcedo Auctions auction on 21 September 2019. Please see salcedoauctions.com for more details.
A beautifully crafted, unusually large console table made in precious, heavy red narra wood in rich, lustrous patina, with strong stylistic affinities with Rococo Revival furniture popular in Europe in the second and third quarter of the 19th century. The serpentine front concaves at the sides, bulges in the middle, and rounds at the corners. Flowers, foliage, C-scrolls and elongated shell motifs delightfully carved adorn the frieze drawers and cabriole legs. The French-style shell hoof feet are strikingly beautiful and well executed. Interestingly, by design, there are no X-stretchers connecting the legs, thus presenting an uncluttered demeanor. Only an wealthy family with a stately house to keep it in could possibly own such a magnificent piece. Reputedly from a house in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija owned by relatives of nationalist Maximo Viola.
I've been too busy to get any outdoor shots lately. Tonight I just finished eating some wonderful pozole and took a picture of our ceramic table hot dish holder.
The bride & groom are big Mets fans, so the tables were named after Mets stars. My table was #1, worn by Mookie Wilson.
What a special treat. This table is not normally accessible. It's not even the stereotypical "kitchen" table that can be booked. It's the table reserved for family - the Arzaks are very tight and dine together regularly. So to have this special privilege... and then to have chef Juan Mari Arzak join us. Verklempt.

Lane Acclaim table picked up at a thrift shop to take the place of our friend's table. Just waiting for the stain and varnish.
tasting table 60,000 pesos. Shipping would be difficult with this as it CANNOT be dismantled. The top is made from the end of a barrel and the legs are staves, the iron is from the hoops that hold a barrel together. Dimensions are 85 cm tall X 52 cm wide at the top.
Some old pieces of a Chinese table that I rescued. I repaired the wooden parts and replaced the table surface with a steel sheet which is brushed in different directions so that it looks like a cloudy sky.
Reclaimed Heart Pine Top with Red Birch Legs & Frame
This table is our sofa table. The table is made from Reclaimed Heart Pine from the early 1800’s. The legs & frame are made from Red Birch. The Red Birch came from Deadhead Lumber Co.
They are a local Maine company reclaiming logs that were cut over 100 years ago and then sunk in Moosehead lake, Maine. As a green, rediscovered wood product, DeadHead Lumber qualifies for LEED Certification points.
Our tabletops are protected with WOCA Oil from Denmark. WOCA oil contains primarily cold pressed vegetable oils and is free of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), making it environmentally friendly. WOCA Oil is very durable and can protect the top from its daily use. The frame and legs are coated with linseed oil, which is natural and pressed from flax seed. We then cover the frame and legs with natural beeswax to bring out the color.
During a break in the photo session with A. this afternoon (during what we will call a costume change) W. and I entertained ourselves with a rousing game of rock, paper, scissors.
I lied, we played no such game. However, we did take photos of this table top outside the leisure pool that has been beautifully damaged. Thanks to his employment history, W. was able to inform me that the gorgeous reflective surface of the table that I so admired was the result of black expoxy pool bottom paint (or something to that effect, that's what I heard anyhow). The collage effect was created by an action script that I found on the Adobe Studio Exchange. It's called The Big Picture.

At the Oak Park Farmers Market. I liked the careful printing, the punctuation, and the variety of fonts.
Lenticular like clouds catch the light of the setting sun reminiscent of a smoking volcano. The mountain is not actually erupting, it's not volcanic - just in case you were wondering!
These tables for customers of Nathans' Famous hot dog stand (established 1916) are located adjacent to the original Nathan's location in Coney Island - Brooklyn, New York City.
The huge structure in the background is the Parachute Jump. This defunct amusement ride has been called the "Eiffel Tower of Brooklyn". It was built for the 1939 New York World's Fair in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, and moved to its current site in 1941. The steel structure is 262 feet tall.
This vintage dressing table was a 27th (I think!) birthday present from my love. It's one of my favorite things...:-)
The Multi table has a sleek linear design lending a minimalist complement from the hype and modern dining area to the creative working space. Available in different configurations from legs to tabletops, the Multi could not be named differently for its flexibility is only limited by your creativity.
Designed by Filipe Alarcão, Portugal's renowned product designer, the Gem table is made with DuPont's monteli. A new material very similar to Corian. The monteli however absorbs the bonding of specific glue differently, making it impossible to view the pieces connecting. The end result is a piece that looks like it's been carved from a single stone. This item was manufactured in a limited numbered edition and each unit includes a signed certificate engraved in the bottom of each GEM.
