my thanksgiving table

Three things I'm grateful for;

1. Family gatherings.

2. Living in the biggest apartment I've ever had.

3. My beautiful healthy children. :)

Bonkers under the table this evening just before dinner time. His goal was for me to pick up him and let him sit on my lap so he could steal some of my dinner. He did end up sitting on my lap but didn't steal any of my food...

Jane was trying to get me to help her clean out the garden shed yesterday.

Rather then concentrate on the task at hand I used the garden table and a piece of old black board to try and capture a cheap bottle of bubbly exploding - which isn't easy - for those who are consdering giving it a go :-)

Lighting : Two Canon speedlites, one directly infront and fitted with a Honl honeycomb and the other to the left fitted with a Honl snoot.

This is how the table appears when it is used. The knobs visable under the refrigerator control the functions of it and are set into a custom wooden trim piece.

Clean and serene, with ample surface area for the wall of shame I was to gather one one end.

Some of my beautiful table linens that were packed in the cupboard. I've now decided I need to use them and enjoy them instead of saving them as heirlooms!

I always appreciate your visits and any comments you might like to leave. Thank you.

The light is magic when it spills into our kitchen and falls on the table. (Set)

Ashley wanted a coffee table for her new apartment so I made one for her. The legs were patterned on a pair of Jimmy Choo boots. Made from baltic birch and the legs were shaped using a bandsaw and rasps.

Bought in Newtown. No one told me how slippery laminex is. The plates slide around the table a bit more than I expected!

Part of an exhibition of work by Catalan artist Joan Sallas at Waddesdon Manor. This whole table decoration (with the exception of the hair) was constructed completely out of linen. Now that is how you fold a table napkin.

This is to show my Foot Powered Table saw in use. Now to some it might appear that I am peddling backwards, if I were on a bicycle that would be the case, but this is a table saw and to cut properly the blade has to turn toward you to cut. I have found one advantage to peddling in this manner is that I don’t have as much upper body movement as I have when I peddle as on a bicycle.

The main accessories of the table saw when I use it are the different jigs I made. I have 6 different jigs to cut the 6 different pieces I use in making my craft. I made them out of angle iron and bar stock. They are adjustable for each piece they are designed to cut so that they will cut to a tolerance of .005 when they are set up right.

You will always want to keep a sharp saw blade in this saw at all times or else you will run the risk of overheating the power supply and causing it to stop.

An untested theory on the safety of this saw is that if you hit your finger, your feet stop.

(For every revolution of my feet the blade turns 30 times, so when I peddle at 40 rpm I am getting 1200 rpm’s on the blade. It also has 50 pounds of flywheel to get you over the top and bottom of your peddle stroke.)
