A simply perfect little mid-century modern coffee table, made from teak and easy-to-clean laminate--genuine local vintage. SO ADORABLE. 76 cm wide; 50 cm deep; 47 cm high.
So this is how it started..
The table is much higher than the average coffee table. At first it was kind of cool, because you didn't have to bend down so low to eat over it.. but we don't do that often.
What we do use it for is a foot rest.. and it is much too hight for that. The edge is quite sharp on your heels!
The idea..
To lower it!
Forget squeeky clean. The bread was a burger bun, and the wine was out of a Micky D's cup. The table was covered in trash that was picked up on the beach front. This was one of four stations to take communion - all were very different.
This end table is made of maple plywood and solid cherry. The joinery for the top is biscuit joinery with faux maple splines on the ends. The legs and apron are joined using mortise and tenon joinery. The finish is many (at least 7) coats of shellac and a lot of wax.

Table setting for the wedding at the Downtown Houston Aquarium. The centerpiece was a bowl with two goldfish surrounded by fresh rose petals and shells.
I just returned from Fort Worth. The performance went well and I saw fakeplasticearth there, Masako-san. The drive was a bit busy so I am tired!
