After years working on a door on filing cabinets, I finally have a real desk. It's actually a dining table, made of wood reclaimed from railroad ties in India.
“Table and Chairs” — A table and chairs under a portico in Santiago de Compostela.
One of the pleasures of (warm-weather) travel in many parts of Europe is sitting at an outdoor table to have a drink or a coffee and watch the world go by. This table and chairs were ideally situated beneath the arch of a portico, perfect for that kind of activity along a narrow street in Santiago de Compostela.
The table was empty, but my photo archive suggests that this was not the case for long. The next photographs in my collection are a series of images of espresso cups and spoons… strongly suggesting that we must have ordered coffee, taken seats at the table, and engaged in precisely that activity.
Painting by me. Candles from Ikea, orange fabric from Nicole, sock monkey calendar, guidebooks. The orange cloth napkin made by my mom and napkin ring by me.
I stole the 2nd chair to be in the bedroom.
I made 100 of these pins, simple versions of the flowers in the bouquet with a brooch pin on the back. Originally my sister was using vintage table cloths and they had a few holes in them and they were to cover the holes. But as the size of the wedding grew and the table numbers expanded, hired cloths became the way to go and these adorned the sides.
As it turned out it was less than hour before all of the pins were detached from the tablecloths and were being worn by all on their jackets, their tops and even in their hair. It was SUCH a wonderful way for everyone to be a part of the wedding, and I wish I had made another 100! It was just one of those spontaneous things that you could never predict but will forever wonder why not!?!!
I'd set some peanuts out on the patio table for the blue jays - and the chipmunks and squirrels immediately moved in.
The main feature of Table Mountain is the level plateau approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) from side to side, edged by impressive cliffs. The plateau, flanked by Devil's Peak to the east and by Lion's Head to the west, forms a dramatic backdrop to Cape Town. This broad sweep of mountainous heights, together with Signal Hill, forms the natural amphitheatre of the City Bowl and Table Bay harbour. The highest point on Table Mountain is towards the eastern end of the plateau and is marked by Maclear's Beacon, a stone cairn built in 1865 by Sir Thomas Maclear for trigonometrical survey. It is 1,086 metres (3,563 ft) above sea level, about 19 metres (62 ft) higher than the cable station at the western end of the plateau.
