The old TTC streetcar stock, known as CRLV (Canadian Light Rail Vehicle) and built by Hawker Siddeley Canada, will retire from operations by the end of 2019. One of the remaining cars has been painted in this special livery and I was delighted to catch it one day when I had my camera with me.

The CRLV's time as Toronto's symbol of mass transit are coming to an end...soon. Almost all examples will be retired and scrapped by December 2019, with an example saved for special occasions. During their final few months of operation, a CLRV was chosen for a special paint scheme.
Designed by Jacquie Comrie, and artist Chris Perez, they helped create a rolling piece of art on CLRV 4178, one of the youngest CLRV's in TTC's fleet. Her vision was quoted; “use(ing) a CLRV as a vibrant installation of colour… a moving colour wheel, healing hearts and minds as it snakes its way through the city.” 4178 was repainted at TTC's Hillcrest Yard in late September 2019, entering regular service on the 506 Carlton and 511 Bathurst.
Cameron and I were in downtown to get photos of VIA's Canadian departing Toronto. Suddenly, we spotted the "Kaleidoscope Trolley" nearby, so we made haste to photograph it at Strachan. I gotta say, this is one amazing paint job.
