The Emperor Franz Joseph I, in 1863, made known his desire to transform the area into a city park for the residents of Vienna. Toward that end, he removed the military parade ground from the site and tasked Dr. Rudolf Siebeck, the city's gardener, with designing the park. To provide contrast to the large, nearby buildings, including the Austrian Parliament Building and Burg Theater, the park had few established structures.
The park opened in 1873 with two nearly symmetrical segments on the north and south sides of the site. Between the two parks is a large square that became a gathering site throughout the years. Traditionally, the area is used for a Christmas market, a winter skating rink, and a summer outdoor movie venue.
The park's flora is among its most desirable characteristics. In addition to large groups of native trees and bushes, the park also has exotic trees, including a Japanese Umbrella Tree and an aged Ginkgo Biloba tree.

These old barges on the river normally look quite dull and uninteresting (unless you particularly like old barges!) but yesterday's morning light and mist transformed them into something of real beauty.
Looks like I don't have time again :( Hope you like these small guys, two of them weren't shown before.

"Light Transformed"
The cool thing about a camera sensor is that it captures light over time, which we cannot do since we observe light in real time. This is a composite of at least 4 long exposure images involving pond ice, a plastic snowflake, a laser pointer, various flashlights and an evening moon photo from last year. What does it conjure in your mind?
Back in 1959-60 this was part of the last 1/3 of my High School Cross-Country course. It was just barren rolling hills of hard-packed adobe clay.

A received a reissue G1 Snarl for my birthday recently, so Sludge has a pal to hang out with now. I was surprised as Snarl has a die cast torso, whereas Sludge doesn't. Very cool feeling that weight again. I have to finish his stickers off; I think I put his rubsign in the wrong spot (isn't it usually on the vehicle mode?)

The Nordap motor transformed a normal bicycle into a motor bike of sorts. The entire front wheel was replaced and a petrol tank and some controls added. The one cylinder, two-stroke motor had an engine volume of 25 cc and delivered 0.9 hp. The petrol tank with a capacity of 1.3 litres of 1:25 mixture provided a range of 100 km. Its weight of 6.5 kg and the significant angular momentum at that location made the bicycle rather tricky to steer and control, but given the choice between that and having to pedal it might still have been considered worth it.
However, not many Nordap auxiliaries were sold. I guess it came just a few years too late. Had it been on the market in 1947 or 1948, when the disposable income of most Germans was too low even for the cheapest motor bike, this might have sold, but after 1949 the post-war economic boom had started and people would have preferred buying a motor bike or even a small car in instalments. From the mid-50s onwards, the entire motor bike market went into a slump because people wanted cars.
The Nordap company made many, mostly automotive components in the town of Ladenburg.

The nymph twirled, a living embodiment of change. Her graceful movements transformed the gentle hues of Spring into the fiery embrace of Autumn. Like the seasons, our lives transition, each phase a unique dance. As we journey through time, we shed the soft innocence of youth and embrace the rich wisdom of experience.
