Snow can metamorphose an old structure into something of beauty,

It once provided shelter and healing...... until He took its place...

Featuring the Skye Studio Rocky Shore Collection. This set is outstanding...it can transform any area into a beautiful and peaceful place to retreat...I paired it with the Skye Enchanted Woods with the Skye Epic Cliffs in the background...

Today's 250 with the military tribute unit leading passed by us at 17 around 08:30, just late enough for the sun to settle in and burn off the clouds. There have been only a handful of these rebuilds over the Moosehead thus far, and this is the first of the specially painted units. In tow were the usual pair of GE's and also a set of ballast train power (the good stuff), with 101 cars, the last of which being a CP plow. I was able to transform a well placed tree into a telephone pole to get the tree stand up for some more elevation. Luckily there is still some nice color hanging on in the area.

Another one of the many highlights was the area in Central Kirghistan, when driving from Bishkek towards the south border in the direction of Tajikistan. We ended the day going to the Toktogul reservoir, a lake that was formed by placing a dam in the Naryn river. (another miracle that I will show later).

The trees in the distance are signalling: "water, there is water here"!

And BTW the lake is another jewel that needs some posting later.

20 September I came back from my journey over a part of the Silk Road to and through Central Asia. 4 months of traveling through 14 countries (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran) before I flew home from Teheran. An impressive journey in countries that are extremely beautiful, with lovely and welcoming people and diverse cultures and history.

Intense traveling with more than 20000 kilometers in our mobile home on sometimes roads that hardly could be called that way. We saw many villages and cities (some wonderful, others very ugly), countries that are transforming from the old Soviet era into something more related to older cultures and the way people live, often funded by oil readily available around the Caspian sea. We saw the amazing mountains south of the Black Sea, the wonderful Caucasus, and the high mountains in the far east close to China with peaks over 7000 meter, and not to forget the (Bulgarian) Alps!

We crossed the great steppe of Kazakhstan. a drive of at least 5000 km, the remnants of lake Aral, once one of the biggest lakes of the world, saw a rocket launch from Baikonur (this little part is Russian owned), we crossed many high mountains passes, and drove the breathtaking canyon that comes from the Pamir, beginning at ca 4500 meter, and going down for ca. 400km to an altitude of 1300 meter, driving for 100's of kilometers along the Afghan border.

And then the numerous lakes with all sorts of different colors from deep cobalt blue to turquoise, and one rare spectacle in Turkmenistan where a gas crater is burning already for more than 40 years. And finally and certainly not the least to mention an enormous amount of wonderful, hospitable and welcoming people. The woman often dressed in wonderful dresses, and bringing a lot of color in the streets of almost of all countries we visited.

There's some incredibly creative street art around Montreal.

I love the way fog transforms the landscape, the mystical quality that makes familiar scenes seem new again. To me, fog is not just witnessed, but rather experienced. I don't want to just observe it through a window. I want to walk in it, to let it envelop me, and transform me as it does the landscape. As you walk through it, you realize that it's not static, but highly dynamic, it ebbs and flows, grows thicker here, thinner there, and can disappear in an instant. Fog at sunrise or sunset is an especially wonderful time; the quality of light is soothing to the eye and the soul. As I walked along this cemetery pathway, I was struck by a sense of stillness that seemed to underscore a feeling of reverence for the departed. I contemplated the scene for a bit before composing the photo. I really wanted an image that conveyed what I was feeling.

Aberdeen; Scots: Aiberdeen ; Scottish Gaelic: Obar Dheathain; Latin: Aberdonia) is Scotland's third most populous city, one of Scotland's 32 local government council areas and the United Kingdom's 37th most populous built-up area, with an official population estimate of 196,670 for the city of Aberdeen itself and 228,990 for the local authority area. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aberdeen Nicknames include the Granite City, the Grey City and the Silver City with the Golden Sands. During the mid-18th to mid-20th centuries, Aberdeen's buildings incorporated locally quarried grey granite, which can sparkle like silver because of its high mica content. Since the discovery of North Sea oil in the 1970s, other nicknames have been the Oil Capital of Europe or the Energy Capital of Europe. The area around Aberdeen has been settled since at least 8,000 years ago, when prehistoric villages lay around the mouths of the rivers Dee and Don. The city has a long, sandy coastline and a marine climate. Aberdeen received Royal Burgh status from David I of Scotland (1124–53), transforming the city economically. The city's two universities, the University of Aberdeen, founded in 1495, and Robert Gordon University, which was awarded university status in 1992, make Aberdeen the educational centre of the north-east of Scotland. The traditional industries of fishing, paper-making, shipbuilding, and textiles have been overtaken by the oil industry and Aberdeen's seaport. Aberdeen Heliport is one of the busiest commercial heliports in the world[7] and the seaport is the largest in the north-east of Scotland Aberdeen has won the Britain in Bloom competition a record-breaking ten times and hosts the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, a major international event which attracts up to 1000 of the most talented young performing arts companies. In 2012, Mercer named Aberdeen the 56th most liveable city in the World, as well as the fourth most liveable city in Britain. In 2012, HSBC named Aberdeen as a leading business hub and one of eight 'super cities' spearheading the UK's economy, marking it as the only city in Scotland to receive this accolade.

When the beloved pass away, Christmas transforms from a joyful celebration into a deeply complex emotional journey. The absence becomes a profound, almost tangible presence - a silent void where love, warmth, and tradition once resided.

So I’ll raise my cup to the stars up above,

To the moments we shared and the love that remains.

Though this Christmas feels heavy with sorrow and love,

I’ll carry you with me through joy and through pains.

Super-Padd has almost recovered from the accident.

He was on his way to Mummy Marian's house when he collided with the sliding door on landing. He was unconscious for a while and suffered from paw problems.

He now wants to meet Paddy, Daddy Jesse and all the other bears who live in Australia.

Peter told Super-Padd about the secret magical portal in Mummy Marian's garden and also told him when you go through the portal you are in Australia.

But..because S-Padd is too big, he cannot go through the portal.

Peter asked for help from the fairy-mother.

She came immediately with fairy-dust.

Peter took Super-Padd to the agreed place in the garden after sunset.....

SUPER-PADD:

I do find it a bit scary Peter.

I don't know what's happening.

PETER:

Have faith in the Fairy Mother....look...there she is already!!!!

FAIRY-MOTHER:

I don't have much time Peter and Super-Padd. So if you stay still, I'll do the spell and sprinkle fairy-dust all over you Super-Padd. Then you can go through the gate.

It takes a few seconds to transform.

If there are any problems, you can send me an app.

Here we go....

Fairy Mother does the spell...sprinkles fairydust all over Super-Padd.

After that, she disappeared.

The fairy-dust circles around Super-Padd. Fog forms...a thud....and....

PETER:

Huh....Super Padd....where are you???????

SUPER-PADD: (replies in a small voice)

Here Peter!!!

Boy are you big! What happened to you?????

Be continued

My local pier, which is no longer in use, has fallen into a state of disrepair. I still see it as a thing of beauty and interest. I captured this image at sunrise yesterday and although there was little colour, due to the impending rain clouds, the Long Exposure gave some lovely movement in the sky and smoothed the water nicely. Beauty from something which at first glance, was not so beautiful.

Established in 1880, the Taiping Lake Garden is one of the oldest garden in Malaysia. The huge lake was formerly a tin mine but was since transformed into a beautiful well used and well maintained park where flowers, birds, insects, animals and lush greenery thrive.

«On the second floor of this house, on the eastern side, is the little room where Blessed Gemma Galgani, after having agonised like Jesus on 11 April 1903, flew to the divine embrace.

In order to preserve her dear memory, the Passionist order bought the room and transformed it into a devout oratory.»

This haunting black and white image captures the ethereal beauty of a Hawaiian unicornfish (Naso sp.) as seen from the unique perspective of a sightseeing submarine off the coast of Hawaii. The photograph's grainy, high-contrast quality lends an almost surreal, dreamlike quality to the scene, transforming the familiar tropical fish into a ghostly apparition gliding through the depths.

The unicornfish, known locally as kala, is perfectly framed in profile, showcasing its distinctive elongated snout and streamlined body. The fish's eye, a small perfect circle, seems to gaze directly at the viewer, creating an intimate connection between the observer and the observed. The creature's sleek form is accentuated by the play of light and shadow across its body, highlighting the subtle textures of its scales and fins.

The background fades into a misty gradient, emphasizing the sense of mystery and vastness of the underwater world. This artistic choice focuses all attention on the fish, making it appear as if it's emerging from or dissolving into the surrounding waters.

Taken from a tourist submarine, this image offers a glimpse into the hidden realms beneath Hawaii's waves, revealing the otherworldly beauty of marine life that most visitors never get to see. It's a testament to the rich biodiversity of Hawaii's coral reefs and the unique experiences available to those willing to explore beyond the surface.

Every once in a rare while a winter weather event happens that magically transforms the ordinary into extraordinary, it can change the mundane into the absolutely incredible. On Thursday night north Caledon had just such a transforming event; shortly after midnight It began raining heavily and then when the temperature suddenly dropped, everything froze over leaving the entire area bathed in ice crystals.

When Karen and I arrived Friday morning we could scarcely believe our eyes at what we found. It was like a scene out of a fairy tale. Every branch, leaf, twig and plant was completely covered with a thick coat of ice; long translucent icicles dangled from every branch and twig. A gentle cool east wind gently swayed the branches making a fine crystal like sound, you could hear the melodic noise like a million tiny glass bells being struck ever so softly.... as the breeze made its way through the tops of the ice coated trees we could hear the heavier icicles breaking and then falling, followed by the gentle thud as the ice fell and landed in the frozen snow below.

This photo was taken as the sun was beginning to set towards the western horizon. The tree line was getting darker and the shadows from the fence were getting longer. I love the interplay between dark and light in this shot... It gives everything a mysterious quality, even the colour gets strained out of the image and makes it almost appear black and white.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,.

Gorge Falls

Black River

National Wild and Scenic River

Bessemer, Michigan

Nestled within Michigan’s Ottawa National Forest, Gorge Falls along the Black River is a hidden gem of raw, untamed beauty. This waterfall is part of the Black River National Wild and Scenic River system, where the river carves its way through layers of ancient rock, creating stunning cascades that thrill photographers, hikers, and nature lovers alike. As you approach Gorge Falls, you’re welcomed by the soothing rumble of water cascading over rocky ledges into deep pools below. The Black River is encased by dense forests of hemlock, birch, and maple, whose foliage transforms into a vibrant mosaic in the fall.
