Back when my kids were in elementary school, they would get excited by the pencil toppers their teachers gave out as prizes. Pencil toppers are kind of interesting as they serve no useful purpose, other than being cute. It occured to me lately that there are the equivalent of pencil toppers in architecture; little things sitting on top of buildings that serve no useful purpose other than being interesting to look at.

Creo que vengo usando Topper desde el 2004, básicamente porque son más cómodas y siempre consigo de mi número sin tener que buscar entre mil modelos y que además alguno me guste -.-
Mi vieja siempre me rompia para que tire las que están rotas (las uso hasta que se abren), pero nunca le hice caso, yo sabía que algún día les iba a dar un uso productivo =P
I decided to use peg board as the platform's surface. I will not be using a box spring with this mattress, so it is very important that air circulates underneath. Didn't like the idea of drilling a bazillion holes in plywood, or cutting a bunch of slats, so went this route.
This absolute talented couple I met from work is having a baby in less than 2 months, I made some cupcakes for their babyshower and this topper to go on top( inspired by one of the toys they make)...if you think this is cute, check out what they make.....

#222 in TEAMPHOTOBLOG 2011 = Lunar tree topper. I thought this tree would look better with something on top, luckily the clouds broke just long enough to catch this shot before covering up the moon again.

My friends Kate and Steve asked me to make the cake topper for their wedding cake. They wanted something cute, like the little drawings I do of people (nothing special, believe me), so I tried my hand at Sculpey sculpture. I've lost all of the other photos I had of this process, but this is the topper on the cake. I'm most proud of Steve's tartain waistcoat and bowtie, because I worked from photos of the plaid. For Kate's dress, I had images from the web. Her bouquet looked a bit like brain coral...

With the UK weather finally looking like summer is just around the corner, here are some classic open-toppers from times gone by.
I'll leave the finer details for you to fathom out, other than I took them at various locations between 1984 and 2000.
