Top bar honey bee hive I built using plans for our backyard. It has a window to not disturb the bees but allowing us to monitor them.
I spotted these Swallows on an adjacent roof, so managed to get some shots of them through a window.

Another impressive little diecast by the fairly obscure Chinese toy company Top Mark. As can be seen by the badging this is a fully licensed model of a BMW Z4 with its pert styling and accurate detailing right down to the interior. This is definitely as good as anything Matchbox can produce and to almost prove this point the packaging looks almost identical to theirs! Mint and boxed.
My random top ten for Big Al's group. Chosen by closing my eyes and grabbing a handful of LP's from the shelf. Using the first track on side one of each. Illustrations inspired by the song titles.

On the top of this hill, Marconi had a long wave transmitter station built. In December 1921 they sent a signal to Waroonga Australia without any relay stations. It took 160kW to transmit the 12,500 miles.
For many years Waunfawr (Cefn Du) was the most important long wave station in Britain. A great deal of knowledge was gained there from practical experience.
The site on Cefn Du is extremely exposed to the elements. Consequently ice damage to the masts became a major problem during winter conditions. The station was closed in 1938 and unfortunately all the transmitting equipment has been removed. All that is left now is a few ruins.
I liked how the reflection transformed the black dress. Otherwise it's all about the gold structure around the heels.

While everyone built large towers (I did too) of pintxos, I submitted my simple little (but still pricey) number. Pricey? Yes, due to quality ingredients - remember those €38 cockles? There's a few of them tucked between the folds of chipirones, under the fried quail's egg and strands of scallions, fresh torn parsley leaves, slick of chorizo oil and crunch of fleur de sel.
However the table's winner was the modern minimalist looking bacalao ripples around cooked octopus, jamon, scallions and marcona almonds. Grant mentioned that pintxos had probably $18 worth of ingredients on it. It was pretty attractive, I'll admit.
Ironic, it was our non-seafood lover who created it. But she also did eat the winning creation (this went on to win group favourite) and enjoyed it. :) So our table collectively and indirectly won, right?
