Titled by: Koichi Watanabe :)

Birch stand, Baker National Forest, WA.

From my album titled Sticks.

Would have titled "Message in a bottle" by The Police but chose this Arctic Monkeys' song instead. Spotify just rounded-up my most played songs for 2020 and "Do I wanna know?" was my number 1 song. Not even surprised as i play this everyday since last April..at the office, in the car, while jogging 😊

Titled because it was taken as the Sun went down that day, but also because it has been mostly overcast since. The Sun will be back, and I have have more to show from the West. Just taking a little break with winter leaves on Groundhog Day.

Admittedly, one of my favourite movies is titled, "The Rock". An action packed movie from 1996 with Alcatraz and San Fransisco as the background. But then again, who doesn't enjoy a Sean Connery movie? It also starred Ed Harris and the main character Nickolas Cage. Among my favourite scenes is when Cage takes his Ferrari through a window on a car chase. To be exact, it is just prior to that moment when, sitting in the drivers seat, he blurts out, "Oh, why not!" At that moment, you know he is going through the window.

It is sometimes odd what can go through a persons mind when focused on a task. The attention can be single minded and directed. Other times, it can be a result of a distant memory that strikes and we act on that interruption. Strangely enough it was Cage's comment that interjected my process, because getting this shot was far more challenging than it looks.

But then again, "Oh, why not?"

"I was shot ... " said that evening on December 8, 1980 before John Lennon passed out, he had turned forty two months earlier, on October 9.

And exactly forty years have passed since that day ...

John Lennon's death also affected a generation that had grown up feeding on the ideals of non-violence that also inspired his most successful album, 'Imagine' (1971), whose self-titled single became an international anthem of pacifism.

I titled the photo "Bird to Fly. Human to Dream". With this image I wanted to share what, to my mind, makes every living being specific: birds are the ones who are able to fly, humans are the ones who are able to dream. On the photo, the birds are hurrying somewhere about their business. And the man is sitting motionless on the pier, looking into the distance of the ocean and dreaming about something of his own. I find something philosophical in this scene.

Duntulmn Castle, Trotternish peninsula, Isle of Skye

The day after the snow I returned to Duntulm Castle for sunrise in much calmer conditions...and no sliding down the grass on the way either! Despite me staying only about 20mins down the road I did end up getting here about 10mins too late as what colour there was in the sky was peaking as I parked the car. I managed to still capture a little and the above is a 3 bracket shot blended which gave me a nice smoothing to the sea. You can still see a trace of snow on the grass. I shot a lot of portrait orientation images which I think suits here better but 15mm wasn't wide enough and in hindsight I should have shot a 2-3 shot pano. It's such a dramatic location and as it originates from the C14th-C15th it must have a lot of tales to tell! I definitely feel there is more I could get out of this location so it's 'unfinished business' in my book.

I felt the photo had to be titled after the Ed Sheeran song!

Shot with the Olympus E-M1 in St. Emilion, France.

Titled this because I did not see the reflections of the windows in the face of the clock when shooting. This was shot on Kent Street AKA the main street in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada

Shot taken for Window Wednesdays.

Titled because all though shot in August, it was not a very august day weather wise, heavily overcast and showery, the water looked almost malevolant... so i shot purposely dark to accentuate this aspect.

Carr Mill Dam is located north of St Helens town centre in Merseyside. It is the county's largest body of inland water, and offers lakeside trails and walks, as well as national competitive powerboating and angling events. It is home of Lancashire Powerboat Racing Club established in 1923 where club, national and international powerboat racing takes place.

Once just a mill pond built to power Carr’s Mill, this was expanded in the 1750s to provide water to the Sankey Navigation, (Sankey Canal), about a mile away. The lake is a favourite with anglers and water sports enthusiasts. It is also a great place for birdwatchers.

Carr Mill Dam

The name Carr Mill traditionally came from the Norse word 'Carr' meaning marsh or fen. The dam is shown on the 17th century Yates map. A corn mill was operating there in the 19th century as it is visible on the first Ordnance survey map of the area, the dam having been doubled in size. There is no record of anyone named Carr having a mill there. This area was part of Lord Gerard's estate, and the dam was further enlarged by the London and North Western Railway during development of the railway system and cast iron marker posts are still visible at two points around the dam.

Carr Mill Dam is also the location of St. Helens' only ancient woodland running alongside the railway line.

This is how Nobel Prize winner Juan Ramón Jiménez titled a poem dedicated to poppies. One of the fragments of it says:

Poppy of the road//red like a heart//I will make you sing to the sound//of the mill wheel//I will make you sing, and to the sound//of the aching wheel,//I will open my heart to you, poppy of my life!

"The composition titled 'Shoes on the Danube Bank' gives remembrance to the 3,500 people, 800 of them Jews, who were shot into the Danube during the time of the Arrow Cross terror.[2] The sculptor created sixty pairs of period-appropriate shoes out of iron. The shoes are attached to the stone embankment, and behind them lies a 40 meter long, 70 cm high stone bench. At three points are cast iron signs, with the following text in Hungarian, English, and Hebrew: "To the memory of the victims shot into the Danube by Arrow Cross militiamen in 1944–45.

The grandiosely titled Langden Castle is in fact - a barn. Mind you, there is nothing else for miles around. Eerily remote in the winter conditions, even the sheep have moved to warmer climes.

"Anything goes" or equally "It's alive." with the possibility of being titled "Bokeh" as well, although I didn't see that on the list for today's theme.

Westminster Abbey, formally titled the Collegiate Church of St Peter at Westminster, is a large, mainly Gothic abbey church in the City of Westminster, London, just to the west of the Palace of Westminster. It is one of the United Kingdom's most notable religious buildings and the traditional place of coronation and burial site for English and, later, British monarchs. Between 1540 and 1556, the abbey had the status of a cathedral. Since 1560, however, the building is no longer an abbey nor a cathedral, having instead the status of a Church of England "Royal Peculiar"—a church responsible directly to the sovereign. The building itself is the original abbey church.

According to a tradition first reported by Sulcard in about 1080, a church was founded at the site (then known as Thorn Ey (Thorn Island)) in the 7th century, at the time of Mellitus, a Bishop of London. Construction of the present church began in 1245, on the orders of King Henry III.

Titled in honour of Michael Buble who played in our neck of the woods last night. Bare Island, Waimarama beach, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand

I titled this photo 'Wet sunset' because of the trees that have 'wet feet'. Though it hasn't rained today, it has rained a lot over the past weeks, so the ditches and pools in this nature reserve are fuller than usual. Luckily, pollard willows can survive wet conditions.

Titled after Chris Burden's installation in Los Angeles.

Titled "How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter?", this series is made up of ten sets of image and text. Each set expresses the 'moment' in which I explore a place in a photograph and then two written descriptions: one by me, considering my mental health, thoughts and feelings, and one by (best friend and accompanying adventurer) Michael with his version of events. The series tracks how photography has changed my interactions with the world, from being isolated to being able to get out and explore.

You can see a few examples of how it was presented here:

Tim van Zundert - How long had I been gone?

If inhabiting the world at night taught me that I could stand in the middle of roads at a whim, why not go to places you just shouldn't? Places that are closed off to the public after dark aren't necessarily closed to those who find their way in. At Cowdray Ruins, we wandered the grounds as if we had every right to be there.

Photography allowed me to slowly move away from total isolation. After dipping my toe into urban areas with car parks - feeling safe up high, able to see everyone else - I started to explore cities. This time, Canary Wharf in London.

Not titled after popular night club antics but more so for the fact that it seems to be a favourite past time for water to drizzle itself off something! Whale beach with Carlo, and an unusually high swell coupled with a big high tide!
