these tiles are new to our house but they had to be old ones to blend in with the ones already there!!!!!!
A badly deteriorated Toynbee Tile at the intersection of 8th and Walnut Streets in downtown St. Louis. It's the only one I've found so far south of Market Street.

These stoneware tiles were handmade by me. Each tile was glazed and fired to about cone 6. Each tile is approximately 3/16th of an inch thick.
I'm re-doing my kitchen and painting the walls terracotta and the cabinets a putty color. I thought it would be cool to put photographs of tiles on the walls for decoration. Here's what I've come up with so far.
Inside tiles are the same as our floor (Riverbed Walnut) and the outer tiles are Mira Lagos border tiles. The stove is a Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel. Lovin' it!

Tile in Grinnell
On the way back to Chicago, we stopped in Grinnell Iowa, mostly to check out Louis Sullivan's bank but also to browse around the rest of the town, which was very cute. However, since it was the 4th of July, everything was closed, and the streets were very creepily deserted!
The light was just gorgeous on the landing and Misty was sitting in the middle of it all. So I told her to "stay" and grabbed my camera and rattled off a couple of shots.
It was a tight between this shot and a tighter shot of her. But I liked the texture on the carpet compared to the tiles in this photo, whilst the other photo, whilst it was tighter, only had the carpet texture in it.
