The roof has a lot of character. It is not the same height, or depth or width. It keeps changing. I love it.
The area next to the range was the last place to be tiled. Since it was small and we were using square tiles, Michelle was able to lay all the tiles in less that an hour.
This was a pretty random shot in low light. The mezzanine floor in "Off the Tracks" café in Granville Island. I did quite a bit in post to get the effect I was after. The tiles were really richly textured but the original shot was pretty dark. Thankfully I shot in RAW.
Roof tiles at the Tuan Hou Temple, Coloane Island, Macau.
These are roof tiles used to build the roof on new buildings in the temple complex. You write your name and a message on the tile, and the names on the tile receive 'good merit'. As you can see people from all languages write on the tiles. My new wife and I wrote on the one in the middle.
I think it is a really great concept..
A human chain unloads a large truck of 12" x 12" 1" thick concrete floor time. 2,750 or so pieces!
Two locals on the truck pass a tile to Mike, then John Paul, then Lloyd to Caleb to Pat. Unseen is Omar and then 3 others inside stacking them neatly.
