“A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.” ― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Central Library (1876-84, architect George Corson), built as the Municipal Buildings. Its lavish fittings include a tremendous ceramic display, with tiles made by Edward Smith & Co of Coalville on the walls of the staircases, corridors and many rooms. The most spectacular area is the original reading room, to the right of the entrance, whose walls and ceiling are entirely covered in Smith & Co tiles. The vaulted ceiling is faced with coloured hexagonal tiles, some of which are hollow and form part of the room’s ventilation system, and there is also a series of terracotta busts of literary figures, including Milton and Shakespeare, modelled by the London artist Benjamin Creswick.

passed this walking down the street in chacarita and i had to take a picture!

The Sydney Opera House is an iconic performing arts centre located in the city of Sydney, Australia. It was designed and largely built by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, issues with the state government led to his resignation from the project in 1966; six years before completion in 1973. The architect did reconcile with the Sydney Opera House Trust in 1999, when he was appointed as a design consultant for future work.

On June 28th, 2007, the Sydney Opera House was listed as a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site.

The Sydney Opera House is situated on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to another icon of the city: the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The building is surrounded on three sides by water, flanked by Sydney Cove and Farm Cove.

Continued quest to find bathroom tile

All that was left of the tile surround on the fireplace previously pictured. This one lonely tile. It made the place seem more real somehow. More like actual people had lived there. Someone had picked out this tile. Someone thought it was pretty and wanted it in their house. Now, all that's left of their house is the foundation, studded with trees, and two brick chimneys still reaching for the sky.

I do floors as well as fabrics..

So old it was made by Selchow & Richter Co., New York, NY!

Things I tried to do while playing analog scrabble- auto-shuffle tiles, place tiles and RECALL with a button. But the fun of playing and seeing the look on your family's face when you lay down a BINGO 7-letter word- so much better than any App!
