This is the portion of roof in back of house (over hall bathroom area) that is missing tiles. Still waiting for the new tiles to arrive and then I have to figure out how to paint them to match the rest of the roof. It will look ridiculous if we put dark grey tiles in this area right next to the aged brown ones

These are the tiles and pebbles on a path in He Garden, a traditional Chinese private garden built in 1883. I am sure these tiles are at least one hundred years old. If you want to know more about this garden, you can check: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He_Garden

The Marine Grill Room was demolished in 1990, but the tile murals were saved by the quick action of preservationists. Six of the original 20 murals are currently in the William and Fulton Streets entrance to the Broadway/Fulton Street subway station. Another abstract image that started out in the real world.

In this case buried in it is a Photoshop Elements filter called 'extrude' which is normally pretty useless but seemed to work here.

I like this - and the previous image - because they seem to capture the essence of the medium, in this case digital manipulation, without pretending to be fake paintings, although no doubt the effect could still be achieved with paint.

Fused and cast glass tile.

There is a saga to it.

I made the owl on the branch for a tile, and put it aside.

I got a tile mold.

The first tile was a joke.

The second one was much better but needed some tweaking.

I fused to owl to the tile.

The edges devitrified (scuzzy murkiness on the glass). I was desperate to save it, so I etched off the top surface of the scuzzy parts. Then I put it back in the kiln.

Success! No scuzziness! And the owl didn't distort much, just got a ripply look on his belly, which is kind of nice.

I haven't decided how to color this one....

After much confusion, I have created a tileable Peirce Quincuncial projection of the band Motogruv. Inspiration from Seb Przd and Pat's Piks for the Peirce projection, and made possible by Flexify for Photoshop.
