Lesser Black Backed Gull chicks take up line dancing.
The lesser black-backed gull is a large gull that breeds on the Atlantic coasts of Europe. It is migratory, wintering from the British Isles south to West Africa. It is a regular winter visitor to the east coast of North America, probably from the breeding population in Iceland.

We've had the joy to see wandering male Wood ducks. They seem lost without females. One female visits occasionally, but I'm guessing the females are encouraging their young to jump from trees.
NB. I lightened this a tad in Camera Raw. Please tell me if this seems too light. I also cropped this capture. They are so skittish, hence the 1000mm distance.
Castle, Pinnacle, and Plummer Peaks of the iconic Tatoosh Mountain range as seen from Paradise. One of my many proud Poppa moments was having lunch with my daughter atop Plummer (right most peak) while looking at Adams, Saint Helen's, and that other one, what's it's name, oh, Rainier...... :-)

These beetles can sometimes be seen massing in enormous mating swarms.

A group of spotters take shelter from the unrelenting rain while keeping a keen eye on DB Skodas 90037 "Spirit of Dagenham" and 90028, as they take the fast-line south through Tamworth Low Level with the 6.06am Mossend Euroterminal - Daventry (4M25) intermodal.
After spending most of the day trying to keep me and the camera dry, the last thing I'd have done was put money on a heatwave and threat of a hosepipe ban in the ensuing three months.

L to R - Merlin, Phil and Andrew were enjoying their morning coffee when I stopped to ask if I could take their photograph. They readily agreed and said they meet here regularly for coffee away from the city centre. They find it was more pleasant to sit outside and the coffee was good and reasonable. They kindly treated me to a coffee and after a lively conversation I left them to continue my walk.

Rodeo Beach, Golden Gate National Recreation Area; the sea stacks to the left are known as the "Three Amigos." 115-second exposure with an ND (neutral density) filter: an ICE 77mm ND1000, for 10 stops of light reduction. All processing in Lightroom CC. Waves, chilly wind - image belies the reality. The fog, though, is real.

The recent warm weather brought a gloopy, murky mist to Brighton the other day, and coincided with a low tide in the late afternoon. It was wonderfully atmospheric. I headed down and shot a few frames, so I'll try to just upload a few that I liked best..

The middle owlet was cautious but the other two were very relaxed, even dozing off in the early morning sun despite knowing that I was there.
