Built on a privileged watchtower, the medieval castle of Miravet is one of the best examples of the architecture of the Order of the Templars in Europe. A religious and military building of Arab origin, it follows the defensive style of the castles of the Holy Land, with majestic walls that rise over the Ebro river.

The year 1,153 was conquered by the Christians and Ramón Berenguer IV handed it over to Pere de Rovira, master of the Templars in Hispania and Provence, who rebuilt it and made it one of the main centers of Christian power in the Iberian Peninsula.

We are warriors of love

And we have made deals with God

Down through the generations

Too many to be told and at great loss

Our precious treasure

Can never be bartered or be sold

From Acre to Malta

We protected the Cross

Now we still live amongst you

Wolves in sheep’s clothing

Protecting your resurrection

No matter what the cost

Come the day when you need us

When there is no chance in hell

Call us in your desperation

Help to ease the sweat on your brow

We will stand with you

To take that last journey

Racing towards heaven

And the end of all of your days

Well, it had to happen. Mix my love of the Grail with my other obsessions, the Templar's being one of them, and the beautiful setting of Glynde Place, seen from Glynde Churchyard, in Sussex, UK, and the result is this work.

Situated at the top of a particularly steep rocky spur dominating a loop of the Aveyron, the fortress of Najac is over 900 years old.Its prestigious past was the scene of great moments in history: the first English occupation, the campaign against the Albigensians, the Hundred Years War, the imprisonment of the Templars, the Croquants revolt, not forgetting the French Revolution.

The walled fortress was built in 1294 by the Templar Knights on what was an old Arab fortress. It was built on a small peninsula on the seafront simply earthed by a small isthmus of sand, next to the walls that made this rock an impregnable fortress.

The village of Temple was once the headquarters of the Knights Templar in Scotland from whom it takes its name, previously being known as Balantrodoch. The land was granted to the Templars by king David I in 1153 and held by them until the order was supressed in 1312.

The ruins of the old parish church date from the early 14th century.

It was a foggy morning and the drive was still a ways out from my encampment. I ventured deep into the woods to find this water source. Everything else had been dried up by the cattle.

The Templars Church - Late afternoon on the Hook Peninsula at Templetown. The Templar's church received its name from the Knights Templar and dates from 1310.

The castle of Castillejo de Robledo and its lands were property of the Order of the Temple until it was suppressed by Pope Clement V in 1311, when it passed to the Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem and then to the villagers with the confiscation of their lands. In the town there was a Muslim fortification on which the current castle was built in the 12th century . The remains of the Muslim wall can be seen in the lower part and are characterised by their greater thickness than the walls built by the Order of the Temple

This is from inside the British Museum the walkway between the buildings. It reminds me of the walkway in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. It also looks nice in black and white with silver toning.
