We are warriors of love
And we have made deals with God
Down through the generations
Too many to be told and at great loss
Our precious treasure
Can never be bartered or be sold
From Acre to Malta
We protected the Cross
Now we still live amongst you
Wolves in sheep’s clothing
Protecting your resurrection
No matter what the cost
Come the day when you need us
When there is no chance in hell
Call us in your desperation
Help to ease the sweat on your brow
We will stand with you
To take that last journey
Racing towards heaven
And the end of all of your days
Well, it had to happen. Mix my love of the Grail with my other obsessions, the Templar's being one of them, and the beautiful setting of Glynde Place, seen from Glynde Churchyard, in Sussex, UK, and the result is this work.

The walled fortress was built in 1294 by the Templar Knights on what was an old Arab fortress. It was built on a small peninsula on the seafront simply earthed by a small isthmus of sand, next to the walls that made this rock an impregnable fortress.

The village of Temple was once the headquarters of the Knights Templar in Scotland from whom it takes its name, previously being known as Balantrodoch. The land was granted to the Templars by king David I in 1153 and held by them until the order was supressed in 1312.
The ruins of the old parish church date from the early 14th century.
Peniscola is a fortified seaport, with a lighthouse, built on a rocky headland about 220 feet (67 m) high, and joined to the mainland by only a narrow strip of land (tombolo). The present castle was built by the Knights Templar between 1294 and 1307. From 1415 to 1423 it was the home of the schismatic Avignon pope Benedict XIII (Pedro de Luna). The castle was restored, improved and new walls were added in 1960 when Anthony Mann's film El Cid was partially filmed there. The castle is now a popular tourist attraction and the beaches and surrounding area are a popular family holiday resort.

It was a foggy morning and the drive was still a ways out from my encampment. I ventured deep into the woods to find this water source. Everything else had been dried up by the cattle.

The Templars Church - Late afternoon on the Hook Peninsula at Templetown. The Templar's church received its name from the Knights Templar and dates from 1310.
The castle of Castillejo de Robledo and its lands were property of the Order of the Temple until it was suppressed by Pope Clement V in 1311, when it passed to the Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem and then to the villagers with the confiscation of their lands. In the town there was a Muslim fortification on which the current castle was built in the 12th century . The remains of the Muslim wall can be seen in the lower part and are characterised by their greater thickness than the walls built by the Order of the Temple

This is from inside the British Museum the walkway between the buildings. It reminds me of the walkway in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. It also looks nice in black and white with silver toning.

This was my first visit to this Church. This is a view looking up at the Dome of the Round Church, Temple Church, Temple, London.. It is one of the most historic and beautiful churches in London and apparently the oldest gothic building in England. The Church was built by the Knights Templar, the order of crusading monks founded to protect pilgrims on their way to and from Jerusalem in the 12th century. It was in use by 1185. For the Knights Templar to be buried in ‘The Round’ was the next best thing to being buried ‘in’ Jerusalem. Negotiations took place in the Church which led to the Magna Carter signed at Runnymede in 1215
The Church is in two parts: the Round and the Chancel. The Round Church was consecrated in 1185 by the patriarch of Jerusalem. It was designed to recall the holiest place in the Crusaders’ world: the circular Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the supposed site of Jesus’ own burial. The chancel was built in 1240. It’s situated ‘off street’ between Fleet Street and the River Thames, in an ‘oasis’ of ancient buildings, courtyards and gardens, including the Inner and Middle Temple. Its main objective now is to serve the Inner and Middle Temple, two of England’s four ancient societies of lawyers, the Inns of Court. The building is only open to visitor’s weekdays.
The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A68 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10mm. I took 3 shots for HDR processed in Photomatix using Fusion Natural for a natural look. I copied the minus 2 image in as a new layer and used a layer mask to apply that only to bring down highlights. Further processing using Topaz Clarity for more detail Then I used Topaz Adjust for only the vignette feature to focus more on the Dome. A Photoshop Brightness adjustment layer with a layer mask was used to brighten the centre of the image.

Templars Tunnel built by the Knights Templar to link their citadel with the old port these tunnels really are wonderfully engineered.

In the mid twelve century the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon; or Knights Templar, have constructed an Outpost in an area of the the Outremer notorious for bandit attacks on Christian pilgrims and travellers of other faiths.
An entry for the Middle Eastern Setting category in the Summer Joust. I wanted to do something a little different from my previous medieval Middle Eastern style builds so I went for a European style castle with a Middle Eastern twist. The tower design borrows some techniques from this build.
