Members of the 4th Regiment, Virginia Defense Force test multiple communications systems and response capabilities Nov. 5, 2016, in Lynchburg, Virginia, during Forward Guardian 2017, a multi-state, multi-agency communication exercise. VDF troops deployed to locations across the state to operate multiple systems and response capabilities including high frequency radio, Statewide Agencies Radio System, incident management assistance and operation of Mobile Communications Platform trailers. The exercise simulated the VDF's ability to provide vital communications support during a natural disaster impacted traditional systems. The VDF is Virginiaâs all-volunteer reserve force authorized by the Code of Virginia and integrated into all Virginia National Guard domestic operations. They are a force multiplier providing additional capabilities to assist with the Guard's mission of keeping the citizens of commonwealth safe during times of need. Dalla Corte and DemusLab has joined SCAE training and certification programme, which is part of the Coffee Diploma System, a new training system started in June 2011.
Certifications include practical and theoretical tests and provide credits for SCAE Coffee Diploma.

History of the F-106A "Delta Dart"
First manufactured in 1959, the F-106A was developed to be an all-weather interceptor against Soviet attacks. These aircraft were equipped with the MA-1 system, which took control of the aircraft in order to maintain proper altitude, attack position, and fire missiles. The MA-1 system could break the aircraft off from attack runs, come back to the vicinity of its base, and return control to the pilot for landing. Production of these aircraft ended in 1960 after 277 had been built.
The F-106A "Delta Dart" at Hill Air Force Base
In the late 1950s, the Ogden Air Materiel Area performed maintenance, supply support, and modifications on the F-106 aircraft weapon system.
The F-106A on display was manufactured in 1959, and after spending some time at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center in Arizona, it transferred to a base in Illinois where it was converted to a QF-106 target drone. In 1998, the aircraft returned to Arizona as one of the last six flying Delta Darts. In 2002, the Hill Aerospace Museum acquired the aircraft and restored it for display.
Interesting Fact
In 1959, the F-106 set a world speed record at 1,525 mph!

The MLS Executive Board met at the new Library/Learning Resource Center at Greenfield Community College. Deborah Chown, Director and Eric Poulin, Coordinator of Library Services (and MLS Executive Board) led a tour after the meeting. The new space has a wide open feel with an atrium type public area and many large windows.
