The crown race is the base on which the lower ball bearings spin (or "race"), just above the crown. Like most parts that are subject to regular wear, like the ball-bearing cups on the head tube, the crown race is removable so that you can change it without needing an entire new fork. They're pressed--rather, rammed--on. Here you see the "Crown Race Setting System," which consists of a big-ass pipe with reinforced end that slides over the steering tube, and a blue anodized shield that fits over the end of the pipe and sits on the outside edge of the crown race. (You don't want to hit the bearing surface of the crown race, hence the shield.) You slide these pieces together, brace the fork upright on a piece of plywood on the floor, and wail on the end of the pipe with a steel hammer a few times. Bike technology is such an amusing mix of sophisticated and simple.

A one day conference of discussion and collaboration on future energy system opportunities, innovation and change. Convened by community energy organisation Carbon Co-op in collaboration with the University of Manchester, this one day conference is an opportunity for key players within energy system to discuss the change, challenges and opportunities ahead.

The aim of the conference is to share knowledge and experience, catalyse new collaborations and document keys 'asks' from the sector around regulatory change with a documentation from the event being submitted to Ofgem and BEIS's call for evidence on the future of smart energy systems.

Toby and Happy were watching videos together on Toby's new tablet. Toby was looking quite bored, though.

I asked if he was still liking his present.

"Sure, Mister," Toby answered. "It's just this system."

For the August Scavenger Hunt #17- Step in and stand clear of the closing doors.

Not exactly an inspired idea, but it's the 29th and this bus was sitting there in front of me when I came out of the grocery store, so I fished my camera out of my purse and snapped a couple of shots.

1. High precision and Intelligent manufacturing

It adopts Germany imported Rietschle vacuum pump, ultimate vacuum to ensure complete defoaming; the inner tank selects 5mm thick stainless steel plate to effectively prevent rust and easy to clean; specially selects the aviation plug connection line and uses imported sealing glue to effectively guarantee Equipment is airtight.

2. Low cost and high efficiency

Using a rapid prototyping part or a CNCed model as a master mold, a high-strength silicone mold is produced under vacuum, then to clone the same replica as the prototype. A silicone mold can replicate about 20 products. The processing speed is more than ten times that of CNC, the processing cost is as low as ten or even dozens of times compared with CNC, which greatly improves production efficiency and greatly reduces the development cost, cycle and risk of direct tooling.

3. Small batches production for big size parts

The mold size is up to 1500mmX 1200 mm X 1200 mm, which can efficiently realize the copying of large complex workpieces in small batches production, help to examine the appearance and structural performance of the products, and avoid the risk of direct tooling.

4. Excellent mold operation

The soft molds after solidification molding are all transparent or translucent, have good tensile strength, and are easy to cut and shape.

5. Personalized customization

According to the specific application requirements of the customer, it provides multiple configuration customizations such as vacuum pump configuration, liner material, and operation mode (automatic/manual).

Back profile:

With our automated vacuum casting system, you will get free access to equipment usage training, 3D printing prototype production training, post-treatment process solutions, and lifetime technical support to help optimize production and maximize profit.

Material Systems: Digital Design and Fabrication

Harvard University Graduate School of Design

in collaboration with the Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard

February 8 - February 24, 2023

Reception: Wednesday, February 8, 5-7pm

This exhibit showcases the results of the Fall 2022 course Material Systems: Digital Design and Fabrication offered at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). For over a decade, faculty from the GSD have collaborated with the Harvard Ceramics Program to offer an experiential learning opportunity for design students that links research and experimentation in emerging digital technologies with the context of ceramic material systems. The course combines technological developments relating to the way in which things are designed (digital modeling, simulation, generative design, etc.) and the way things are made (automation, computer-controlled equipment including robotics, advanced materials, etc.) in search of new opportunities. Each object exhibited here is the result of prototyping and experimentation during the pursuit of a research question – it represents a step in a process of exploration, rather than a finished product.
