Synchronous motion

The song of this soul

in the hollow of my ear

calls my dream

to its opera

I would like it in your arms

endlessly, without waiting

it is the Creator

who enters homes

to forge the world

He understands the languages

of each human being born

the clarity

for Him everything is simple

He knows the deep needs

of which we do not speak

the impious and the pious

can turn to Him

in lightness

when His art operates

like a wind in music

synchronous vibrations

The song of this soul

has no roof

but your artistic body

poet in the wind

you make its supports tremble

its woman's legs

mysterious flesh

the soul in me is not present

it is on earth

welcoming its step

the invisible is never seen

through the skin

it is the light

coming from beyond the body

that she wears, queen

serene is her voice

when she says a word to you

that kisses the air

wonderful kiss

that embraces you both -

the unique music.

Wie man einen Sol LeWitt um die Ecke bringt ...

;-) ...

Solomon “Sol” LeWitt (* September 9, 1928 in Hartford, Connecticut; † April 8, 2007 in New York) was an American minimalist artist. He developed the term Conceptual Art.

English

LeWitt attended Syracuse University in New York from 1945 to 1949 before spending a year in Korea and Japan with the US Army in 1951. In 1953, he attended the Cartoonist and Illustration School in New York and worked as a graphic artist for the architect Ieoh Ming Pei from 1955 to 1956. From 1960 to 1965 he worked at the Museum of Modern Art, where he made the acquaintance of Dan Flavin, Robert Ryman, Robert Mangold and Scott Burton. Between 1964 and 1971 he worked at various institutions, including the Museum of Arts School, taught at Cooper Union, the School of Visual Arts and the Education Department of New York University. In 1976, together with Lucy Lippard, he founded the publishing house Printed Matter to organize the distribution of artists' books.

Sol LeWitt's work was based on the constructivism of the Bauhaus and the Dutch artists' association De Stijl. Sol LeWitt developed the ideas of these styles further and experimented with architectural spatial structures, grid patterns and grid constructions, which he reduced to a minimum. The artist recorded his work in numerous documentations that reflect his view of art theory.

In his theoretical work Paragraphs on Conceptual Art from 1967, with which he became an important stimulus for Conceptual Art, he defined his art as “conceptual” - in contrast to visually oriented “perceptual art” - as it was primarily of intellectual interest to the viewer. Here, the idea, the concept of a work is in the foreground.

In his works, which have also been exhibited several times at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, lattice structures made of wood and/or metal appear again and again. Early works include drawings and prints with fine line and grid structures as well as large geometric grid objects. Large colored wall drawings followed from 1968. Sol LeWitt was a four-time participant in the documenta in Kassel from 1968 to 1982.

In 1979, Sol LeWitt developed a video work for Lucinda Child's dance piece Dance. During the live performances, film footage of the piece is projected synchronously onto the stage via a meter-high, transparent screen, so that the dancers interact with their cinematic alter egos. The video projection, in which the dancers dance on a gridded floor, serves as the only stage set for the piece. Dance is now one of the classics of the avant-garde and had a decisive influence on postmodern dance.

Wie man einen Sol LeWitt um die Ecke bringt ;-) ...

Solomon „Sol“ LeWitt (* 9. September 1928 in Hartford, Connecticut; † 8.

In 1989, he was elected an associate member of the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique (Classe des Beaux-Arts)

The Hansweert lock separates the Kanaal door Zuid-Beveland from the Westerschelde. There are tides on both sides of the lock, the canal has the water level of the Oosterschelde, also a tidal area like the Westerschelde, but of course not synchronous. The "clock" on the building shows the water level relative to the NAP -- which one exactly (i.e. Oosterschelde or Westerschelde, or the current one in the lock) I don't know now...

This is a small tit, 10–11.5 cm (3.9–4.5 in) in length with a finely pointed bill and a relatively long tail. The head is light grey with a black "mask" through the eye. The back is chestnut brown. The sexes are very similar in appearance, but the male has a broader mask and a more rufous back

The eggs are laid from end of April to the beginning of July. The nest is suspended from thin long branches of trees such as willow (Salix), elm (Ulmus) or birch (Betula), often over water. The nest can also sometimes be suspended between two or three reeds (Typha) only a meter or so above the water. The nest is a large free hanging pouch-shaped structure, approximately 25 cm (9.8 in) in height and 17 cm (6.7 in) in diameter. It is made of plant fibres, grass, hair and wool with an entrance tube at one side. Both sexes contribute to the construction which takes around 20 days. Eggs are laid daily. The clutch contains 6 to 8 white eggs which measure 16.2 mm × 10.7 mm (0.64 in × 0.42 in) and weigh 0.95 g (0.034 oz). Incubation starts after the last egg is laid and lasts for 14 days. The eggs are incubated by either the male or more usually the female, but not by both. The hatching is synchronous. The young are cared for by either the male or the female but rarely by both parents. The nestlings are fed larval insects and spiders. The nestlings fledge at around 22 days of age. The parents will sometimes attempt to raise a second brood, but this is rarely successful.

My friend, Mr. Gambel's Quail perched smack in the middle of the Gilbert Riparian Preserve. Though common, I do appreciate the corpulent form and spiffy topknot of the species. One study found that the lady quails don't really care about the size of male's topknot. However the male with the most glorious topknot does take on a leadership role with the flock. Something else interesting I learned about the species is that just before the eggs hatch, Momma Quail will call to her chicks who will peep out an answering call from within the shell. Then they hatch synchronously. Tadaaaa! Who knew synchronized hatching was a thing?

This wild show started at the top of the cliffs, where one chick got the prey in an aerial exchange from mom. Next thing that happened was a sibling also grabbed the prey(which was a partially eaten pigeon). Now you had 4 talons firmly planted on prey and falcons that were not in any kind of synchronous flying direction or rhythm.. Amazing to me that they flew locked on to prey from top of cliff to the bottom before one pulled free. Mom trailing with a watchful eye ready to step in and help if needed.

Every year people flock to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, for a number of reasons really, including to see the fireflies. The park has some rare synchronous fireflies that blink in unison, but also just the normal fireflies are pretty incredible as well!

For this shot I'd been looking for a scene where I could incorporate Cygnus (the Swan constellation) and this tree lined up nicely. Next I just let the camera run for over 2 hours and the fireflies did their thing!

A pair of Sandhill Cranes engage in a synchronous takeoff at New Mexico's Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.

It was that time of year again last couple of weeks. The synchronous fireflies in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park had rendered a great show we had experienced. Coupled with the sounds of flowing water in the creeks, the light show did put us in a dreaming land.

Pelicans can be graceful, almost "ballet'ic" in synchronous flight or in the water—but pelicans can also display complete disharmony! There wasn't quite enough room on the log for the whole group, and of course there's always the "odd man out"!

It seems that part of the courtship dance is waving the head - at times not quite synchronously as seen here.

And an unknown bird. I thought it was a female Brown-headed Cowbird, but the males don't have black bodies with brown heads. Perhaps we only have females?

I liked the photo for the impending storm with the bird on the dead tree. This is only cropped.

Here's my final shot (I think?) for this years firefly series. More synchronous fireflies! I considered this area to be among the best I've seen in the 4 years of doing this. In fact I had planned on going back my last night but there were some really wicked thunderstorms rolling in and I had to call it off for the night. With no cell phone service, it's the last thing you want to get caught off guard by.

I hope you enjoyed these. It's a huge investment of time. Both on site scouting for possible locations, and the hours of editing per shot. I'll be doing a full story on my web site soon too.

St. Govan's Head, Pembrokeshire. Bonus bird from the Magnolia trip. A good number of these around the headland, this was perched on a low cliff and came down to investigate. Watching them synchronously bouncing up and down in the wind is quite a sight. Thanks for any likes/comments - appreciated.

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tobu_500_series:

The Tobu 500 series (東武500系, Tōbu 500-kei), branded Revaty (リバティ), is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by the private railway operator Tobu Railway on limited express services in Japan since 21 April 2017. As of September 2020, 11 three-car sets (33 vehicles in total) have been built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Design

The trains were built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, with exterior and interior styling overseen by Japanese industrial designer Ken Okuyama. The driving cabs at each end of the three-car trainsets includes an automatically extending gangway connection to allow trains to be coupled or split en-route.

The trains have active suspension, a first for trains operated by Tobu, and use permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) traction motors.

Naming

The trains are branded Revaty (リバティ), a name derived from the English words "Variety" and "Liberty".

Exterior

The exterior livery consists of "champagne beige" with "forest green" and "future blue" (Tobu's corporate colour) highlights around the windows.

Interior

Each three-car set has a seating capacity of 161 passengers. Seat pitch is 1,000 mm (39 in). Interior lighting is LED lighting. Wi-Fi and at-seat AC power sockets are provided.

The automated on-board passenger announcements use the voice of TV presenter Tomomi Kuno.

The best part about visiting the Redwood forests of Northern California in addition to the spectacular trees are coastal scenes like this. I went for a hike and saw these flowers blooming by the cliffside. When the colors changed at sunset the flowers glowed synchronously with the pink hues of the sky.

Man in his weakness and shortsightedness believes he must make choices in this life. He trembles at the risks he takes. We do know fear. But no. Our choice is of no importance. There comes a time when our eyes are opened. And we come to realize that mercy is infinite. We need only to await it with confidence and receive it with gratitude. Mercy imposes no conditions.

An lo! Everything we have chosen is granted to us. And everything we have rejected has also been granted. Yes, we get back even what we have rejected. For mercy and truth have met together. Righteousness and bless shall kiss one another.

-General Lowenheilm, Babett's Feast

/****************

“At the center of our being is a point of nothingness which is untouched by sin and by illusion, a point of pure truth, a point or spark which belongs entirely to God, which is never at our disposal, from which God disposes of our lives, which is inaccessible to the fantasies of our own mind or the brutalities of our own will. This little point of nothingness and of absolute poverty is the pure glory of God in us. It is so to speak His name written in us, as our poverty, as our indigence, as our dependence, as our sonship. It is like a pure diamond, blazing with the invisible light of heaven. It is in everybody, and if we could see it we would see these billions of points of light coming together in the face and blaze of a sun that would make all the darkness and cruelty of life vanish completely ... I have no program for this seeing. It is only given. But the gate of heaven is every- where.”

-Thomas Merton, Conjectures of a Guilty Bystander

/***********

"Look!" Rafe suddenly exclaimed and pointed fiercely toward the east. I turned toward the east and saw a perfect sliver of a crescent moon, brilliantly poised for its October debut, so delicate and perfectly suspended in the luminous night sky that it almost took my breath away.

"Look again," he said. I did, and then I saw what he was so fixedly pointing to. There behind that delicate sliver of a new moon was the perfect outline of the full moon, completely round and whole.

"What we have to be is what we already are."

You sit with this koan for a while, and suddenly you see the secret, which like all koans is so obvious once you've finally grasped it. Time doesn't flow in a linear direction. Never did, never will. It spirals out, like a nautilus shell, from the worm hole of the point vierge, weaving a tapestry of finitude as the glory of God. We are full at point of origin, and from that fullness flow out synchronously, into time. Like the moon, growing toward what it already is. Meaningful coincidence, not ruthless linear causality, knits our hearts onto the poetry of God's body. And if we can learn to flow in this direction-learning to row a rowboat, facing our origin, and hence effortlessly flowing toward your destination, the journey through time becomes a sacrament of God's own compassionate aliveness.

-Cynthia Bourgeault, Becoming What We are, essay in We are Already One, Thomas Merton's Message of Hope

Astrophytum asterias. Starr County, Texas - March 2018.

A. asterias is another of Texas's spineless cactus species. It is the most range-restricted of the three, and is known from only a few populations in extreme southern Texas and adjacent northern Mexico. It is listed as federally endangered.

This individual is part of a large population on conservation land. It is surrounded by Varilla texana, a commonly associated species and an indicator of high quality thornscrub grassland. A. asterias typically bloom synchronously following spring rains, though a handful of stragglers can typically be found. It is hard to predict when this mass bloom may occur, especially when coming from across the state. We really lucked out during this visit, as the one day we had to explore this property happened to coincide with a mass bloom event.
