As we walk through the market adjoining the Amphawa floating market, I came across this stall (actually the shop attached to the counter selling chrysanthemum juice we saw earlier (see previous pictures). A fudge of some sort was simmering in the wok, which the guy at the store told us was coconut. This is apparently used to make a coconut custard square or fudge of some sort. Villagers in the town of Amphawa bring in local ingredients for making traditional Thai desserts. Visitors can see a variety of dessert on display here, one of which is this one of coconut custard squares or coconut fudge. Other Thai desserts one can see here are dumplings in coconut cream, Thai caramel, caramelized crisps, egg yolk fudge balls cooked in syrup, sweet shredded egg yolk, Mung bean dessert, coconut milk ice-cream, and others are popular desserts. Most ingredients are grown locally, like coconuts. Coconuts are used to make desserts such as coconut custard squares, coconut milk ice cream and others. And though more of a snack than a dessert, I later saw at the other end of the market sweet items like candied (sugar coated) shrimp and candied pork. (pictures later in this album). This adorable peasant dress is perfect for a birthday party, daycare, or trip to the icecream shop.
Made from cotton fabric and features icecream cones on pink and white diamonds. Coordinating sleeves and bottom trim feature icecream polka dots on brown fabric. Elastic at the neck and arms allows for easy dressing.
Can be worn alone or with leggings and turtleneck in cooler weather.
Size 6m, measures 14 1/2 inches long from front center of dress to bottom hem. Size 2T also available.

What has long been called Hydnum repandum in North America has turned out to be numerous species, none of which are H. repandum, which is European.
These are atypical fruitbodies with stunted caps and prolific spines covering the stipes. I'm not sure what caused this, but it had been quite cold previous to my finding them.
