Black-eyed-susans are those flowers that stay until frost....holding onto summer. We have not had a hard frost yet, but I think it might come this week. Happy Fall everyone, another season of hope and inspiration. :-)

I am testing out a new 15 stop NISI ND filter. I am very pleased with the results and there doesn't appear to be any colour cast. Unfortunately there was no sky this morning so I had to compromise.
It was delightful running into Susan again in the neighborhood. I didn't recognize her at first due to the different outfit and glasses. Her stylish hat the flower on her glasses attracted my attention. She was with a friend and she recognized me immediately and agreed to a follow-up portrait in a nearby doorway. She said she would have to cook me one of her specialties one day and told me she's an excellent cook. Part of the challenge of this portrait was the dull, flat, overcast day. The other part was figuring out how to position Susan to cover some distracting hardware on the door behind her and yet still maintain balance in the photo. Susan is a very interesting woman, as you will learn if you read the story accompanying the "comment photo" below.
The pleasing wildflower (Common Gaillardia; Brown-Eyed Susan) was photographed while hiking in Banff National Park, Canada.
Good friend of mine. Her fourth novel is coming out: "Incarnations" by Susan Barker. Asked me to take author photos. The goal is for the photo to say "hey, I'm an intelligent, nice person, approachable, authentic and down with the China experience - my book is the same"
