Reportage in the orthopedic surgery service in Luman hospital, Thonon, France. Operating theatre. A nurse prepares the surgical instruments required for a knee replacement.
Today was R's surgery. It involved putting new weight-bearing surfaces into his elbow. He was born with elbow dysplasia. He came through fine, although the degree of damage inside his joint was far worse than expected. I was very glad that the world's expert on CUE surgery did the procedure. He had to slightly modify the usual implant locations due to the joint damage. R is now at the hospital, heavily drugged. He will be released tomorrow - but we are having a blizzard. My husband might stay down in the flatlands with him tomorrow if driving is impossible.
i've been away for a few days.
i was supposed to have laproscopic surgery for this

Here is the incision 5 days after surgery. It looks GREAT! We still have some tape that won't come off. We will work on that next shower! She is already healing wonderfully! I moved the before pic next to this one. Wow, look at her right hip! Amazing!

My father went through his first surgery last year. He had a weak heart ( not going to details ) so he's chest had to be opened, and part of his heart had to be replaced. When he was in the hospital, my girlfriend and I wrote him a song: soundcloud.com/seksound/seks050-va-kohalik-ja-kohatu-4-le...

Thank-you so much for everyones support over the past few months as I struggled to find out what was wrong with me knee! After having an ultrasound, 2 x-rays, MRI, and seeing a few different doctors I finally found Dr. Watson. He performed athroscopic knee surgery on me today and discovered that my knee cartilage had been damaged and was extremely loose. He told me that even the suction from the surgery could have pulled it out. I had the damaged part removed, and am well on my way to making a recovery. I should be able to start walking around a little in a few days, and once I am fully healed should be able to kneel and run once again! I am so happy that the problem is finally diagnosed after 4 months of unknowns.
The dogs are going to make recovery so much easier. Just having them there, cuddling with me and staying close.
Der Raum geradeaus muss laut meinen Plänen tatsächlich die Chirurgie gewesen sein. Leider sieht man davon nichts mehr, er ist praktisch leer. Eine besondere Aura umgibt diesen Ort aber trotzdem...
UPDATE # 2 - 10:45 pm eastern - Zooie is home. He rested a good part of the night but has been up and refusing to lay down now for about an hour. My vet gave me injectable pain med to give. There are some benefits to being a nurse. I've also go an anesthetic to put into the wound tomorrow. So..off to give my boy a shot. I hope he settles in a little bit. He is the sweetest, gentlest boy I know. It pains me so to see him suffer. So many of your babies have been through this too. It helps knowing you understand. Thank you again and again for your wonderful, supportive comments. I am blessed to know you!!!!
UPDATE #1 - 5:07 pm eastern - I'm off to pick up Zooie. GOOD NEWS!!!!! Everything went well. There is NO cancer in his bladder. It is just irritated from the stones. My vet took a wide margin of tissue from the old tumor site. No visable nodes. Everything looks good. Now I just have to get my boy throught the next few awful days of pain. For all those who have faced this same thing with their fur child, you know how I'm feeling. The sense of relief is beyond words. I know we aren't out of the woods as far as the cancer goes, but at least we are fighting a fight against a small artillary instead of a nuclear bomb. Thank you all for your words of support and encouragement. Reading your comments has made me cry more than once today. I know you understand how much this precious boy means to me. He is my heart.

I just dropped Zooie off at my vet. It was hard to leave him this time. The surgery will be extensive. First the area around where the tumor was located will be removed and hopefully any cancer cells will be removed. Once that is done the bladder will be opened and the stones present will be removed. Then my vet will remove the thickend tissue from the bladder wall and send a piece off for biopsy. If the thickening in the bladder wall turns out to be cancer, my vet said it would not be metastatic from the original tumor site but a separate cancer altogether. That would mean my Zooie has two different kinds of cancer growing at the same time. I don't need a college degree to tell me that his prognosis would be poor if that were the case.
So now I just wait. I can't imagine my life without my precious, precious boy. Everything has to go well. It just has to.

The local branch of my doctors' which will close when the main branch builds an extension. Sadly I may have to find another surgery, as I like to be able to walk there.

The Incan people practiced brain surgery, in which a piece was chipped out of the skull, part of the brain removed, and the hole covered by metal beaten flat.

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY, 07 AUGUST 2000 --- Her husband Viktor asleep in the next bed, Dora Frank examines her new nose at Budapest' Professio Clinic. The 29-year-old Hungarian born woman had come to have her nose reduced and re-shaped, while her 60-year-old Swiss engineer husband had silicon breast implants. Many West Europeans now come to Hungary for plastic surgery because such proceedures are many times less expensive than in Western Europe. .

Dr K's morning surgeries are complete and the patients are resting comfortably in the Recovery Room. Some of these dog toys have survived multiple "surgeries". Some don't make it. I keep a good supply of extra replacement stuffing and squeakers in my sewing box. The black Bat lasted about 15 minutes post surgery and had to go back to the "ER" for emergency stitches. He should again make a complete recovery. He is a good quality toy from BarkBox.
