A brilliant red-orange sunset inflames the sky over Laguna Beach, on the coast of southern California.

A few days ago my brother-in-law was taken ill and was operated immediately upon arrival to the hospital.
He has been released now and is convalescing at home.
We often take life and good health for granted until something drastic happens and shakes us to being aware of our mortality.

Witnessing sky colors on a warm Fall evening in Morro Bay has been on the list for awhile. Grateful I was present last night.
While at Catabwa Island I spotted this fisherman in the bay. The sunset was about a half hour away and I was hoping that he would keep fishing for a while longer. He did. I kept running up and down the beach to get a different perspective of the sunset. This guy had no idea how thankful I was that he just kept on fishin'
