The 2016 “Better Together” California Teachers Summit is a free statewide day of learning that took place on Friday, July 29 at 38 locations around California, including CSU Channel Islands (CI).
Over 700 delegates met in Cambodia for the Fifth Review Conference of the Mine Ban Convention entitled the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine Free World – adopting a new Action Plan to help guide implementation efforts for the next five years. The Solidarity to Solutions Summit (#Sol2Sol Summit) took place on September 11, 2018 in San Francisco, territory of the Ohlone people. Sol2Sol was highlighting frontline communities’ solutions that address the interlinked crises of climate, economic, and racial justice. Through cross-sector, solutionary strategy exchange, community leadership development, creative actions, and democratic popular assembly, we provided direction on bold and transformative pathways for change and shifted the narrative around false top-down market-driven solutions and techno-fixes.

Summit Lake (12,830 feet) is a high alpine lake. It lies in a cirque formed by Mount Evans and Mount Spalding with rocky ridges and cliffs rising from the lake to the summits over 1,000 feet above. It is the most accessible lake above timberline as the Summit Lake parking area is just a few hundred feet from the lake.

Summit, now only a ghost town, was the last settlement in the Gulch. In its day riches of up to $500,000 were packed out, and like many towns its population melted when gold was depleted.

Over 700 delegates met in Siem Reap for the Fifth Review Conference of the Mine Ban Convention / the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine Free World. The Summit is where the international community adopted the Siem Reap-Agnkor Action Plan which will guide efforts for the next five years.
