This is my first time ever shooting a drifting event and I am pretty happy with how my shots turned out. Big thanks to my Roy for letting me use his 70-200 so that I was able to capture the shots for this set. Today was a small scale pro am event with some local drivers held at Summit Point located in WV.
The 2016 “Better Together” California Teachers Summit is a free statewide day of learning that took place on Friday, July 29 at 38 locations around California, including CSU Channel Islands (CI).

Haleakala National Park, Haleakala summit area.
It was originally created as part of the Hawaii National Park along with the volcanoes of Mauna Loa and Kilauea on the island of Hawai?i in 1916.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was made into a separate national park in 1961.
The park area was designated an International Biosphere Reserve in 1980.
The name Haleakala- is Hawaiian for "house of the sun."
According to a local legend, the demigod Maui imprisoned the sun here in order to lengthen the day.
The park features the dormant Haleakala- (East Maui) Volcano, which last erupted at around 1490.

Too many flies at the summit cairn itself, so this was taken just 50 yards or so from the summit. Thanks to the gentleman from Crieff who took the photo.
Lucy did really well today! Unfortunately, shortly after this photo was taken, she discovered a flock of sheep which I had been unaware of, just below the summit ridge behind us. Fortunately, she was far too tired to chase them for more than a few metres.
