Canebrake Road heading into the southern Sierra Nevada. The road is in great shape (relatively) and very quiet for a memorial day weekend. BLM land adjacent to Sequoia NF.
The road looks smooth here, but it was too rough for Matthew by the end. He got carsick less than a mile from the campground after the Long Valley turn-off. That road was partially paved and I probably did too much weaving around trying to avoid the potholes. Matthew had also had a big cup of milk not too long before we turned off the highway. On this trip we would learn to recognize the tell-tale cough-cough that meant he was getting carsick. We heard it, but did not realize what it was on this day. He puked a lot, too. Fortunately, the car seat cleaned up ok and the car only slightly smelled like curdled milk for the rest of the trip. Needless to say, I took it slower on the way back out.
