a couple friends and i decided at 2 in the morning we would drive from West Michigan to Kentucky, spent 14 hours drive total.
Subaru recently donated an Outback to be used by the Lafayette Police Department for community outreach. I was fortunate enough to provide the photo backdrop for the side decals.
Arriving in Vermont under threatening skies only to be greeted by some amazing lighting and cloudscapes. Sometimes the little adventures are the biggest!

Just today I spotted a brand new "26 plate" Subaru Forester in a supermarket car park and thought it was probably easier to spot a Ferrari or Lamborghini such are their rarity here in the UK. Apparently their Outback SUV style estate car as modelled here by Matchbox is also available here in the UK though I genuinely had to Google that fact, i've never seen one!
Knowing that fact makes me appreciate this new release even more, ironically now this batch is hitting the UK you'll see more of these than the real thing!
A pleasing low cost licensed model debuting in a signature Subaru blue colour which contrasts well to its black bumpers and side cladding plus is light enough for your eyes to enjoy its intricate front and rear detailing.

Spent all day at one of the largest beer festivals in the US. Napped for 4 hours. Drove into the middle-of-nowhere Wisconsin and got lost under the Milky Way.
Only my second attempt at astro photography, and the first was the Perseids 12 years ago. Unfortunately it is a minimum of 4-5 hours from where I live to get anywhere with this little light polution.
Also, I really should have tried to learn all these new Z8 astro functions like starlight view and interval shooting before I got there. lol. I couldn't get more than 3-4 intervals to work before my camera starting making beeping noises like it was backing up. Something I'd never heard before from any camera ever. So I just manually pressed the shutter every 25 seconds for like 3 hours.

Last year Subaru sold just 2144 vehicles here in the UK yet in the same period they sold a mammoth 643,591 in the U.S. They are thus considered very much a niche marque here and usually sell to farmers or vets who need a reliable off-road vehicle but not the size of a huge SUV!
Its huge sales in the U.S. probably explains why Matchbox are happy to produce a variety of their vehicles culminating in this brand new 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness which makes its debut in Case K.
Keeping in mind its designed and priced to compete with the likes of Maisto Fresh Metal etc.. it pays not to be too critical of its execution. I actually rather like it particularly in this signature light blue colour and at least MBX have given it a raised ride height with black lower extremities and wheel arches.

With the ongoing non existence of new batches of Matchbox appearing in my area unfortunately I haven't found half as many of the new 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness as I would have liked. Fortunately it crosses over into Case L which i've been able to source from the US in much more appealing Power Grabs packaging and thus a few more have been added to my collection.
Its nice to see modern non WRX Subaru vehicles modelled in this scale and price point and for me this is a winner with its stock realism and neat detailing.

Station Wagon models are not popular here, except for the Outback, specially the 2nd, 3th and 4th generations. This is a 5th generation model.
