Braved sub-zero wind chills this morning to observe a Townsend's Solitaire (Myadestes townsendi) that has been feeding in a group of cedar trees in Moraine Hills State Park in McHenry County, Illinois. Only the 3rd one of this species that I have observed here in Illinois, 2022.
Took a 5 day holiday to Harbin in Heilongjiang province for the annual Ice and Snow Winter Festival. It was a great experience, but a real challenge trying to keep my camera equipment working in temperatures as low as -30'c!

Driving back from East Cork yesterday the roads were covered in ice and snow. The car's thermometer showed -4.5 degrees for a good bit of the journey, though it hit -5 at one point
