Yet again „the walk“, I guess you know every single tree as well as I do right now ... BUT: I tried few things with the rendering, both while taking the shots and when processing them. When shooting I used a Kenko Nostaltone Orange, which is basically a diffusor and warming filter combined. That's where the color and softness comes from. I used a zoom lens all the way open, which gives vignette and fall off and a bit of additional softness. when proscessing them in LR and PS I payed attention to „fill the highlights with color“ and control the highlights in general. There was a beautiful „soft sunshine“ today (partially cloudy), and the light was so nice I hope I could capture that a little bit at least.

what appears to be a rather egocentric poodle studying his reflection is really an optical illusion- Igor was standing behind the vehicle and evidently Miss Pepper Kitty was teasing from the shadows, as usual.
When I discovered that it was terribly awkward to photograph the bluebird nestboxes with my new Nikon D200 (little nestbox, great big lens, shooting blind) it occurred to me that maybe I should upgrade from my beloved three-year old Panasonic FZ10. I had seen so many lovely shots with the Canon S3 IS, I decided on that. There they are side-by-side.
The Canon feels very small in my hands, but then I've mainly been playing with the Nikon for the last several weeks, and it is definitely not small. But I think I will send the Canon back, and probably get a Canon S5 IS when it comes out in July. I think my poor old eyes would benefit from the larger LCD, and I think I'd like the extra megapixels too. No disrespect to the S3 IS!
