At the Ted Adnan's Basic Studio Lighting Workshop - November 2008

Night Blooming Cerrus bloom 9 August 2010

I decided to experiment with studio lighting a bit. Rather than deal with a human being, I thought Barbie would make a nice stand in. I'll do Ken next I guess. Strobist details: 1/8 power on a Canon 580EXII with a soft box simulating a 30" x 45" softbox. The center of the softbox is about eye level. Softbox is at 30 degrees.

It was portrait night at camera club - I got the chance to play with some studio equipment. Well I say play... someone else set it all up, I just got to see the end result really!

This is my favourite shot of the night, I'm really pleased with how it came out, I hope she likes it too. She's so pretty!

Got studio lights borrowed and this is a little from that when i was playing with them :D

I used one softbox and one umbrelle pointed about 45°towards me and used my 200D and Bowens light kit.

Styling by both model and photographer.

Shot in Feb 2015.

These are the result of my first photoshoot using a model with my new studio lights. I've never done studio work before I bought these lights, I've always preferred natural light. Where I live the winters come early and leave late so my photography tends to drop off in fall and pick back up in summer, now I can keep at it all year round.

Played around this afternoon with Britney in the little garage studio I set up.

Strobist info:

150w bare strobe right behind my neck, 1/2 output

150w strobe w/lrg lightbox right in front of my feet, 1/4 output
