VANESSA LEIGH

FEB. 9, 2010

Fantastic studio session with Vanessa. We will be doing a location shoot next tuesday.

I know its said every time I work with her, but she remains a natural, and we work so well together.

These shots were supposed to be our "warm up" shots before heading outside on location, but her session was cut short and the location shooting was postponed until next week.

Every time I shoot her, she looks like a totally different person. Fantastic.

Studio/Location. PhotoMystique.

Thanks for a great shoot Victoria

Beauty Dish front and high up. Reflector underneath to lighten under chin. She was standing in front of a softbox for backlghting set at appx. 1.5 to 2 stops over the main light.

Developed the roll from the Hasselblad from the shoot this weekend. A lot of unusable images because of the unfortunate mix of composition problems and funny facial expressions. Emily and I spent last night in the darkroom trying to get some images from our rolls. We each left with two.

I hand held the camera this time instead of using a tripod. I know, I know, I know the fabric should be covering the entire part of the lower half of the frame, but I wanted to print with the nice borders so I decided not to crop the image last night (I'll try to reprint it soon cropped). I can be pretty stubborn about it. It was something I didn't catch while shooting. It's kind of ok with me right now because I love how her eyes and that flower just pop in the photo.

I have a portrait assignment for class that I'm shooting on Thursday, so I'm trying to get my lighting down. I want the light to be soft and flattering (later I'll attempt a more dramatic set-up). This is straight from camera with some minor skin touch-ups -- since that's part of the assignment-- that have decreased my smile lines! :)

Shot with two Alien Bees, keylight (camera right) with medium softbox at 1/4 power and rim light with gridspot one stop higher (I may have not had this placed right, because not much of a rim is visible-- hard to position when shooting yourself). Silver reflector at camera left.

Any feedback/suggestions are welcome.

Another light experiment.

Stobist info: One 160 w/s flash with a small softbox camera left set to F4. One 160 w/s flash with a grid camera right and behind set to F4.

See setup here.

Stüdyoda böyle bir şey denedim, ters ışık ve -2 poz yaptım, gözüme bir an olsun hoş göründü, paylaşmak istedim. Fikir ve önerileriniz için lütfen çekinmeyin uzun uzun yazın.

Selamlar.

Me & Raul both shot Kaylyn last night with my studio lighting. I love how his turned out as well: www.flickr.com/photos/raulromo/2708919055/

Studio night session

Bought lighting set-up yesterday... based on what I learned from www.studiolighting.net.

I used two lights (continous lighting) here... one light above the subject and the other one I placed under the tinted glass table.

Slight editing applied: cropping, increased contrast and softness added
