My studio today, completely topsy-turvy! Yes, that is my desk... upside down in the middle of the room!
i rented the super wide nikon lens for halloween photos tomorrow, but i just had to play a little bit with it today!

On the last lab day of my studio photography class, we learned to set up a straight-forward studio portrait. One of my studio partners modeled for me -- I asked him to give me his People Magazine "Sexiest Man Alive" look.
My D100 (50mm lens f/8) triggered the strobe lights. After using a Hasselblad for 9 weeks, I still prefer my own camera. A longer lens would have been a much better choice -- I was VERY in his face to get this shot.
I don't think the flickr-verse will find this shot very interesting (that word has really changed, hasn't it!), but it's a peek at what I've been learning in my class.

Whatever she is holding, it is probably something significant, but the focus on the sitters is poor and no amount of magnification shows it clearly. She seems to holding it slightly oddly, between her index and middle finger- (perhaps rather fussily posed by the photographer?)
There is a rather flamboyant studio setting with a mixture of exotic themes.

The white shelving unit had a former life as an enternainment unit for our TV and electronics. I bought it from IKEA when I was 19. It's been through many a move and has it's fair share of nicks and scrapes (that I touch up every once in awhile with white paint). My husband has cursed it so many times (every time we move) because it is so heavy. He has threatened to take it to the dump rather than move it one more time. I tell him "No Way!". I just can't part with it. It's waaay too useful for storage in my studio.
The colorful striped boxes and magazine holder are also from IKEA. Also purchased around the same time as the TV unit. They've held up very well considering they're made of cardboard, have been well used and are more than twenty years old (there, I've just dated myself!).

The refurbishment of my first rental studio for tourists is finished now! The studio is located in Scheveningen, the beach resort of The Hague (Den Haag), a few minutes walk to the beach and promenade.
Studio Poseidon is on the 2nd floor, for 1-2 persons (40sqm). The studio has a double bed (140 x 200 cm); bathroom with shower, bath, sink and toilet; small kitchenette with refrigerator, coffee machine and cooker (2 plates); television (cable tv), wifi internet.
