It's been awhile since my friends and I have gone to the studio to have a fun jam session. In fact it's been a little too long, especially when everyone realized just how much we all sucked that evening. And man did we suck royally. Looks like we definitely have to practice more after this...
*sigh*
At least I'm improving on my bass guitar technique though :D

As photographers, we have the opportunity to create images to be cherished by families for generations. We bring people into out studios, or go out on location, and spend time setting up our lights, backdrop and props. We meter our lights, pose our subjects and create our images.
Though I love creating family portraits in the studio, I so much more love creating family portraits at events on location. Why? Because the family portrait was not planned, nobody has been uptight about the session and, because it’s usually a fun event, everyone is having fun. They are relaxed.
The downside to creating such a family portrait is that you need to be more generic with your lighting and often times, you are limited on space. You also don’t get to do a clothing consultation.
Indeed, all a fact with this image. This is during an event at my church. I am set up in a room that is about 8x12. No way can I set up my softboxes, so I am forced to umbrellas. I don’t have the depth to move the subjects the proper distance from the background. And, I don’t have the luxury of steaming out my backdrop.
But, what did I end up with? A beautiful family portrait that, while it’s not going to win any awards in print competition, is going to allow this family to remember this evening for years to come and remember just being together as a family.
And, I have to say, even though I did not get to do a clothing consultation, this works really well. Even mom, the glue of many families, in her red top. It makes her stand out.
This was lit with two White Lightning UZ1600 heads with 5’ umbrellas. Any hint of a hair/separator light is purely bounce of the low, white ceiling.
I have a very good photographer friend Diana and she is a brilliant portrait photographer. A couple of years ago, she was approached by Tari, the daughter of one of her best friends, as she wanted a shoot because she wanted to become a model. Diana suggested that Tari might be better suited to have a shoot with me, so Tari contacted me and I booked the studio and managed to persuade Diana to come along with her camera too.
Although Tari is very pretty, she is not your classic very tall, anorexic-looking model and had decided that she would be more likely to get a break if she modelled lingerie too so she brought along a few sets! I did not know this before the shoot, so I got bit of a shock when she appeared in this! Somehow, I survived the shoot although I was pleased Diana was there!
It was Tari's first shoot and she was very excited and quite relaxed because the two photographers were family friends. I have known her family for many years too.
One day I got a very excited text from Tari to say that one of my lingerie photos from the shoot had made in to ZOO MAGAZINE!!! She gave me the page number and a few days later I was in W H Smith looking at Zoo Magazine! The picture wasn't on the page she had said and I discovered that Zoo comes out weekly and I was looking at a more recent issue. So I texted her back and said I had failed to see it. Next day, she appreared at my house with a copy of the right magazine!
Since then, Tari has been photographed by many photographers and has had many modelling jobs too. Well done, but remember who launched you!!!

When I visited the Universal Studios last year I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only was the Terminator 2 feature still running strong but also the Back to the Future attraction was still up and running!

The studio and the entrance new billy (since i bought something with defect and after much strugle had to take apart and pack all to take it back) was the reason i have been pretty much dissapeared these days.
The studio was unuseful so i had to get new table, new ikea billy and tidy up everything so everything could be near and make it a comfy place to work, but i am DONE! i am sooo happy! YAY!!
I could not take anymore my living room being a mess everytime i had to work. I mean, everytime.
All on my own! YAY FOR ME! :D
La entrada y el estudio son las razones por las que he estado desaparecida de la vida estos dias. Para la entrada pille un mueble defectuoso y lo tuve que desmontar y empaquetar, llevarlo y pillar esto. El estudio estaba inservible, asi que he tenido que comprar la mesa, un mueble (mas este mueble de la entrada) y montarlo, ordenarlo y acomodar todo para tener todo a mano por fin y que mi salon no parezca un vertedero de muñecas cada vez que tenia que trabajar. O sea, siempre.
Que contenta estoyyyyy!!!!! molida, pero muy feliz! :D
