For natural light portraits I can stand in the corner of my studio where I have windows coming in from both sides. I control the light by opening and closing the curtains. I put my camera on a tripod and use a remote shutter release with a two second delay.
A self-portrait.
Here’s another outfit I always wanted:- (In fact I want nearly ALL of the 1967 outfits! :P ) ‘Studio Tour’. Though I have unofficially renamed it ‘Traffic Stopper’ because of that bold traffic light colour block scheme. Love that groovy floppy hat! My Hair Fair is rocking this with her brunette fall and some fab clone sunglasses that came with another doll in a lot. This gal has unusually bright RED-pink lips (and yes, they are original!) so she’s a great choice for this outfit, IMO. Now I want those variation 'Sunshiner' Pak dresses in each of these polka dot fabrics!

Models having fun?
Look, it is not all plain sailing, what YOU get is the final result after hours spent 'perfecting' the image.
Mistakes are made, things go wrong, with the props, the set-up.
Reflectors fall over as do flowers, or the whole thing shifts, haha.
It is a matter of keeping calm or seeing the fun in what happened, like this here!
A draft, lol.
FUN from Studio Indigo.
We don't like them in our gardens.
AND YET: The dandelion plant is a beneficial weed, with a wide range of uses, and is even a good companion plant for gardening.
Its taproot will bring up nutrients for shallower-rooting plants, and add minerals and nitrogen to soil.
It is also known to attract pollinating insects and release ethylene gas which helps fruit to ripen.
Taraxacum seeds are an important food source for certain birds
I wish you a good time and thank you, M, (*_*)

Here is a portrait I did of the lovely @addiepeels few weeks ago, her dress is from the very talented @nathanaellecouture.
In my last tutorial I show you how I retouched it and how I changed the background. You can see it on my youtube channel. Let me know if you like this kind of photography.

Architect: Alvar Aalto
Built in: 1955
Client: Alvar Aalto
“ Alvar Aalto designed the building at Tiilimäki 20 in Munkkiniemi as his own office in 1955. Because of a number of large commissions, the office needed more space to work in. The building is only a short walk from Aalto's own house, where the office had previously been located. Studio Aalto is one of the best of Alvar Aalto's 1950s buildings.
The white-rendered, wall-like, closed-in mass of the building conceals a garden shaped like an amphitheatre in its inner courtyard. The office staff could sit on the slate steps of the amphitheatre, listen to lectures or watch slide shows projected on the white wall.
The principal space in the building is the curving studio which has a view opening onto the courtyard. Horizontal battens fixed to the high walls of the studio allowed drawings to be displayed there. The rear wall is covered with climbing plants reaching up to the high-level windows and prototypes of light fittings designed by Alvar Aalto are hung in front of the wall. The slanting bay window of the conference room with its rooflight creates the perfect conditions for examining models and drawings.
The building is designed to be used as an architect's office. On the upper floor there is a drawing office on a narrow plan, beautifully encircled by natural light from a band of high-level windows. In 1962-1963 the building was extended by building a dining room for the staff, the 'Taverna', in the courtyard behind the high brick wall, with an office above it.
Alvar Aalto ran the office until his death in 1976. After that, the office continued under the leadership of Elissa Aalto until 1994. The building came into the custodianship of the Alvar Aalto Foundation in 1984 and today it houses the Alvar Aalto Foundation, the Alvar Aalto Academy and the Alvar Aalto Museum Architectural Heritage.”

This pic was intended to have a cinematic feel. I used a purple gel in a backlight and a smoke machine but the effect has been enhanced a lot in post.
J. Barrie Robinson was a teacher in Hull. This is a supplement from my copy of 'The Studio' Dec 1913 and had a write up in their section called Art School Notes.
'M. J Barrie Robinson is one of a small band of workers at the Kingston-upon-Hull Municipal School of Art who have been attracted by the modern revival of earlier reproductive arts, and in the accompanying illiustrations some results of his experiments in the manner of the early woodblock printers are shown. Always a close student of nature, he of necessity at first interpreted her chiefly in her simpler moods, making the most of the technical advantages offered by the silhouette. With increased power of expression, however, greater subtleties of tones have ensued, as in the evening dock scene at Hull, and this development no doubt heralds a still wider range of expression including colour. Mr. Robinson was very successfyulwith his prints in the last National Competition though he had only taken up wood engraving a short time previously, and had only the spare time left over from his occupation as a school teacher to pursue his art studies'
I bet he was well chuffed with that!

More hard edge light from two standard reflectors with tight 20 degree grids and a focused fairly hard key light - using a gridded reflector from a far enough away to give a reasonable coverage. One speedlight banged into a silver reflector on the floor for some subtle shadow fill.

A famous recording studio, best known as the site of many of Elvis Presley's early recordings. Note the historical marker in front and the guitar on the corner behind the lamppost.

One of her best portraits I've taken. She has such natural and beautiful expression here.
Did you ever wonder what the studio space looks like? Well this is it. I cleared out a space in the garage and that is where I work.
