Student Nations are regional student associations at a university. A similar phenomena, outside northen Europe, are the fraternities at American universities, but it's imperfect comparison. The nation system was once a widespread concept in Europe, but now they only exist by some degree in Sweden and Finland.

This building is inspired by Norrland Nation in Uppsala, where I am quite involved. I tried to recreate a scene from the early 1900s. The scene captures a typical day of student life with alcohol, love, an infamous horse incident, fencing and so on.

Students getting serious in Durham.

Good morning everyone! I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time on Flickr and keep up with you guys :( Life’s just been a bit busy over the past week. But hopefully (hopefully) I’ll be able to catch up with everyone soon. Later! ^__^

This is Cordell High School in Cordell, Oklahoma.

I went to this high school from 1964 to 1967 (sophomore thru graduation in May 1967).

When I went to the high school, it only had about 180 students in the three grades. My graduating class had 55 students.

U of Delaware--50 years ago (and 5 kids and 17 grandkids ago) I met my wife at the U of D. It has grown from about 4,000 students to about 20,000. It was beautiful then and is so today. This is new,as is much on the campus. Worth a visit if you are in the area. It's fun to be a Blue Hen!

My first published book that I co-authored with Ewa McGrail! Rowman & Littlefield published it.

Happy Students on their way home after the Saturday morning classes have finished. Bacolod City, Philippines.

Had a wonder at the Uni this afternoon. Reminds me of my first week of Uni when older students from our college took us to the centre of town with one leg of pyjama over a parking meter and a large queue of concert goers on the other side of the street encouraging us to escape. Then we had walk the mile back to College ... Great times :)

I found this scene a bit poignant – a student sitting by himself in the park at lunchtime with the school in the background.

Native Plant Society of Texas, Trinity Forks Chapter is organizing this outreach to primary schools in the district to try to teach students about the value of native plants. Students are creating art with native plants in the fall semester. A large committee made up of Trinity Forks members are judging the art by the end of the fall semester. Then all art is exhibited in different locations in the city (the two universities, Senior Center, city's public libraries, etc.) and the reception takes place in spring at Denton ISD. Students, parents, siblings, fiends, teachers and school administrators and Trinity Forks members are a big crowd at the reception. The art is exposed everywhere in the reception room. It is a joy to see students coming with their families, going through the the room looking for their creations, and being so happy when they find them.

I started to walk through this gate at Stanford Univeristy in Palo Alto, Ca, when the entire student body came rushing by. Seemed like a good photo op. to me. And, a nice fence too. Yeah. Happy Fence Friday.

UPDATE: BTS Blog post lianneviau.wordpress.com/2011/06/05/behind-the-scenes-stu...

This is Ryan. I promised him i would make a picture of him for his birthday that just passed recently. This was right after exams for him. He spent his semester studying and writing long paper after long paper. It is tough to keep up with a busy semester sometimes. I know I used to nap in the library.

This will be followed shortly by a behind the scenes stop motion video and a post on my blog so stay tuned! i will update with a link when it is done :)

But! For now you may find me on

More than 800 students from across the U.S. and Puerto Rico launched nearly 50 high-powered, amateur rockets April 15, near NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, during the Agency's annual rocket competition.

For the past nine months prior, teams of middle school, high school, college, and university students were tasked to design, build, and launch a rocket and scientific payload to an altitude between 4,000 and 6,000 feet, while making a successful landing and executing a scientific or engineering payload mission.

Student Launch is one of NASA's eight Artemis Student Challenges - a series of activities providing students access to the Artemis program. Through Artemis, NASA will return humans to the Moon for long-term exploration, including landing the first woman and first person of color on the lunar surface, missions that will help pave the way for future missions to Mars.

The 2023 launch event and award ceremony are available to view on NASA's Marshall YouTube and Student Launch Facebook pages.

NASA has announced the winners of the 2016 NASA Student Launch challenge, held April 13-16 near NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Vanderbilt University of Nashville, Tennessee, won first place and took home the top prize of $5,000, offered by Orbital ATK, of Promontory, Utah, longtime corporate sponsor of the challenge.

The University of Louisville, in Kentucky, won second place, and Cornell University of Ithaca, New York, placed third. The Rookie of the Year award was presented to the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.

Nearly 50 middle and high school, college and university teams from 22 states demonstrated advanced aerospace and engineering skills related to real-world activities and programs on NASA’s journey to Mars. Teams spent eight months building and testing rockets designed to fly to an altitude of one mile, deploy an automated parachute system, and land safe enough for reuse, while some teams also designed scientific payloads for data collection during flight.
