This shows the structured insulated panel a bit better ... you can see the outside board with the insulation inside. The walls are about R24-R28 in insulation value. That's better than a normal studded wall of same insulation value because it is a continuous piece not interupted by studs every 16 inches!

Taken while riding in a taxi or van, I was fascinated by the way billboards were constructed in Thailand, probably because they are similar to the look of fire escapes.

A team of undergraduate researchers from Ithaca College traveled to Las Vegas to scan for subsurface cultural features at the Larder Site — an archaeological site occupied by Native Americans nearly 2,000 years ago —as part of a preservation project along the Las Vegas Wash.
During construction and restoration efforts along the Las Vegas Wash, archaelogists discovered more than 60 food storage pits dating back to 500 B.C., and most recently, evidence of habitations on site [Credit: Ithaca College]
The team conducted a geophysical survey of the prehistoric site using ground-penetrating radar and a magnetometry. Ground-penetrating radar detects reflected signals from subsurface structures and plots data as profiles, maps or 3D models. A magnetometer recognizes unique magnetic properties and detects disturbances of the Earth's magnetic field.
Using the two types of sensing equipment, the team found signals that resembled what could have been semi-subterranean dwellings, referred to as pit-houses, and an excavation team on site confirmed this the following day.
Michael Rogers, associate professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Ithaca College led the team of researchers in their discovery.
“For our team, this was really exciting because within two days of work we identified two houses at the site, which now changes our understanding of it,” said Rogers.
Previous archeology work at the site discovered food storage pits, but no evidence of habitations at the site. The discovery of the houses confirmed that people did live at the site.
Rogers has conducted research using ground-penetrating radar, magnetometry and/or 3D laser scanning technology at a variety of historic sites from the Revolutionary and French and Indian Wars, including Old Fort Johnson, Fort Klock and Fort Hardy.Author: Megan Christopher | Source: Ithaca College [May 29, 2015]

ODC - "architecture"
Tonight I went out and practiced shooting some fireworks for the second time. I hate that I only get to practice once a year. They are hard to master!! I see them but they don't look professional. This statue is down at the Vinton War Memorial and was build in memory of fallen soldiers and those who served in the military. It was dark and you can't really see it too well but there is an enormous constructed flag in the middle. This happens to be one of my favorite architectural structures. I am trying to get together a mosaic of this same structure and have it on display at the War Memorial. I am very touched by this.
the structure caught my attention on my 1st visit at Mall of Asia ( SM ) .. i have to capture this, suddenly, guard from Bread Talk asked me not to take pictures .. hmm...I wonder why ?
