An old, abandoned beer factory in Budapest

This structure is one of our favorites. It was fabricated our in the field in the exact spot that it was placed. The top of the structure is designed to whistle when the wind blows.
The hotel I was staying in has some interesting bright color elements in it, yellow, pink and green. This structure caught my eye. Luckily there was a way to get up to have a look down on the structure.
Built in 1912-13 by the Glacier Park Company, a subsidiary of the Great Northern Railway, the Glacier Park Lodge was designed by Samuel L. Bartlett and Louis W. Hill, and was constructed in the Rustic and Swiss Chalet styles to house visitors whom traveled to Glacier National Park via railroad. Based on the Forestry Building at the 1905 Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in Portland, Oregon, the lobby in the original hotel building, located in the center of the structure, measures 200 feet (61 meters) by 100 feet (30 meters), enclosed by massive Douglas Fir tree trunks, which are still coated in bark thanks to being cut in the winter, and have Ionic-style capitals made of smaller logs. The exterior features more durable Cedar tree trunk columns that support the roof and multi-level porches, and both rustic log and sawn wood balustrades. Due to the popularity of the hotel in its early years, a large annex building, with a heavier influence from the Swiss Chalet style, was built next to the original building in 1914, expanding the number of rooms in the hotel from 61 to 172, and features multi-tier porches with sawn ballustrades. The annex and original hotel were linked with an elevated sun lounge, which connects the lobby to the first floor of the annex building. To the rear of the hotel stands a Chalet, which was constructed alongside the original hotel to house seasonal employees, which has since been supplemented with multiple additional cabins and bunkhouses for employees. The hotel saw the addition of a nine-hole golf course in 1928, the first golf course in the state of Montana, before being sold by the Great Northern Railway in 1960, after which a pool was added and the building was renovated under the private company Glacier Park, Inc. In 1981, the hotel was sold to Dial Corporation, which later spun off Viad Coporation as a separate entity, which remains the operator of the hotel. Open only during the time between mid-May and mid-September, the hotel remains a seasonal operation, and maintains its connection to the nearby East Glacier train station, which is served by Amtrak’s long-distance Empire Builder route. The hotel maintains a 1960s 9-door Checker Aerobus, which is still sometimes used to carry guests and their luggage to and from the nearby East Glacier Train Station. Despite being a historically and architecturally significant structure, the hotel, unlike many of the others built by the Great Northern Railway, is not currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has several building systems and elements on the interior that appear to have not been touched in decades. Today, staying at this hotel features accommodations that are a bit like stepping back in time.

This lovely Beaux-Arts structure was erected in 1907-08 using the designs of architect Henry Livingston Kerr. It stands at 150 South High Street in Wailuku, and was expanded in 1962. The structure has since been replaced as a courthouse, but it still houses the offices of county judges. It is a contributing property to the Wailuku Civic Center Historic District, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
Wailuku, Hawaiʻi is one of my favorite historic towns on the island of Maui. It is situated on Kahului Bay just east of the ʻĪao Valley. It serves as the seat of Maui County, which is comprised of Maui, most of Molokaʻi (aside from Kalawao County), Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, and Molokini.

This is a view looking through the chainlink fence gate that leads into the grounds of St. Paul's Elementary School. The school utilizes the original structures from Heim Elementary School that was built on these grounds in the early 1960s. After St. Paul's Church and School purchased this property in the mid-1980s, they painted the posts yellow and the doors blue, as shown in this photo. nrhp # 71000278- Horton House (also known as Horton-duBignon House, Brewery Ruins, duBignon Cemetery) is a historic site on Riverview Drive in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
The tabby house was originally constructed in 1743 by Major William Horton, a top military aide to General James Oglethorpe. Horton also brewed beer in Georgia's first brewery (the ruins of which are a few hundred yards down the road). This structure has been meticulously preserved over the past 100 years as an example of coastal Georgia building techniques and as one of the oldest surviving buildings in the state. Across the street from the Horton House ruins is the du Bignon cemetery, a tabby wall surrounding the graves of five people Ann Amelia du Bignon, Joseph du Bignon, Marie Felicite Riffault, Hector deLiyannis, and George Harvey. Horton House, the Brewery Ruins, and the cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. The house is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Georgia.

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Officials from the City of Long Beach, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a number of other agencies and support groups announced the completion of the second phase of the restoration of Colorado Lagoon at a news conference held Aug. 23 along the shore of the historic body of water.
The restoration of the lagoon includes three phases. The first, elimination of the flow of contaminated material and trash into the lagoon, was completed in 2010 when the city installed mechanical gates and other structures to capture and divert stormwater runoff. The third and final phase, anticipated to occur in the next five years, will construct an open water conveyance between the lagoon and the adjacent Marine Stadium Park, and the Pacific Ocean, to reestablish a more natural tidal flow.
The just-completed phase removed contaminated sediment from the lagoon and re-contoured the banks to assist with tidal flow.
City officials will hold an official public ceremony Aug. 25 to commemorate the reopening of the lagoon.
