Not sure what the proper architectural term for this. It's part of the picnic area cover at Centennial Park in Irving Tx

The New Village at Patchogue project has progressed nicely beyond 90% of all subgrade structural features and about 60% of the elevated structural post-tension slab work is completed or in progress. Building 1 spearheads the vertical rise with two levels currently framed and Masonry construction rising above the wood framing. Building 2 will under way with its first floor of wood framing by the end of April 2013. Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing trades have been coordinating with ongoing structural components in all buildings as the system installation needs progress, and installation of roughed out systems in sub grade and framed units is well under way.

External site improvements are partially placed while the installation of a major portion of subgrade sewer, power, communication and drainage systems that will serve the project are scheduled to commence shortly. By the end of May, the last section of connecting structural slab is expected at the crossover to Havens Avenue opposite Jennings and will complete the footprint for vertical construction at buildings 1, 2, 3 and 5. Building 4 is scheduled to start excavation at West side of the site (on Main Street) to make way for the foundation at the last structure in the project.

This is an interior photograph of the Kingspan Lighthouse.

The Kingspan Lighthouse was the first house to achieve Code level 6, the highest level, of the UK Government's Code for Sustainable Homes.

This is the standard that all new homes will be built to by 2016

This is a few days before they knocked it down. Purple gel on a handheld flash I used to paint with, long exposure, on my 35mm camera.

Those who have been following my work should note the choice of film here. I don't shoot RTP (Fujichrome 64T) or tungsten color balance very much. But this is exactly how I wanted the dishes to look. This is how I wanted to communicate how I felt.

More will be posted tomorrow morning.

First responders from across the country were in Virginia Beach for a massive structural collapse training exercise hosted by the Virginia Beach Fire Department and Virginia Task Force 2. The annual School was held at the sprawling complex of crawl spaces and staged disaster zones representing different scenarios – things first responders have seen and experienced first-hand. This course gives urban search and rescue teams a chance to practice their skills. More than 160 people took part in the hands-on training lasting for 8 days with students coming from as far as San Francisco, California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware.

Seen here are structurally tilted sandstones across the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary in the South Australian Outback. The beds are steeply dipping eastward (to the left of the viewer) - they are almost vertical. This site is on the western flank of a large syncline.

A prominent bedding plane near the left margin of the lower part of the photo is the top of the Rawnsley Quartzite, an upper Ediacaran shallow-water sandstone. The overlying beds (further to the left) are the basal Parachilna Formation, a burrowed sandstone-siltstone succession and the basal-preserved Cambrian unit in the area. This section was once considered for the Precambrian-Cambrian GSSP (global stratotype section and point). Parachilna burrows mark the first appearance of complex trace fossils in the section. The underlying Precambrian sandstones lack burrows. It turns out that the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary in this section is a cryptic disconformity (missing time). At other sites, another unit called the Uratanna Formation occurs between the Rawnsley and the Parachilna.

Stratigraphy: Parachilna Formation (upper Nemakit-Daldynian Stage to lower Tommotian Stage, lower Lower Cambrian) over Rawnsley Quartzite (upper Ediacaran, uppermost Neoproterozoic)

Locality: Mernmerna section - dry creek cut south of Merna Mora & north-northwest of Hawker, eastern side of the Three Sisters Range, South Australia (vicinity of 31° 34' 22.69" South latitude, 138° 24' 39.64" East longitude)

Taken in July 2016. At the time of taking, it had been shut down for around 10 years due to structural problems.

The Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility has been providing customers with clean, renewable energy since 2006. The site features over 273 megawatts of wind and solar power, with a 44 megawatt expansion completed last year. During the first phase of construction as well as the second, Puget Sound Energy went to great lengths to take care of the environment. Native plants were planted in disturbed areas, erosion control was put in place, and wildlife studies are ongoing. The Renewable Energy Center (visitors center) was built to showcase Puget Sound Energy's commitment to the environment, education, and renewable energy. The building is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified Gold, with a native rock exterior, native plant landscaping, low VOC paint, Structural Insulated Panel walls and ceilings, Energy Star appliances, and recycled furnishings throughout. The center is open to the public from April through November.
