On June 11, 2018 Latvian soldiers together with Canadien led eFP battlegroup soldiers, US 2nd Cavalry regiment and US Army cadets train together in exercise “Saber Strike 2018” as defending force; the training takes place in Skrunda region, including Nīkrāce, Lēnas, Tukums and Rudbārži.

Latvijā mācību aktīvā fāze notiek Ādažu poligonā no 3. līdz 15.jūnijam. No 9. līdz 14.jūnijam mācību norise plānota arī ārpus poligona - Amatas, Mālpils, Ogres, Ropažu, Salaspils un Stopiņu novados, kur bataljona līmeņa vienības, pārvietojoties ar bruņutehniku, veiks mācību uzdevumus ar zemju īpašniekiem saskaņotās teritorijās.

 

Šogad apvienoto sauszemes un gaisa spēku mācību vadošā valsts ir Latvija. Mācībās Latvijā piedalās vairāk nekā 2000 karavīru no Latvijas, Lietuvas, Itālijas, Norvēģijas, Lielbritānijas, Polijas un Slovākijas, kā arī ASV.

 

Mācībās tiek uzlabota dalībvalstu sadarbība, gatavības un kaujas spējas, kā arī demonstrēta sabiedroto spēja ātri reaģēt un pārvietot spēkus visā reģionā.

 

„Saber Strike” ir ikgadējas ASV vadītas apvienotās sauszemes un gaisa spēku mācības, kas tiek organizētas jau kopš 2010.gada.

PAPA AIR BASE, Hungary — Soldiers from 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), Vicenza, Italy, start to tighten gear in prepartion for an airborne operation, July 18. The 449 paratroopers participating in the operation include Allies from Canada, Hungary and Italy. The operation is part of Swift Response, a U.S.- led airborne exercise, which will include two airfield seizures, an air assault operation and air movement of a platoon of Strykers from 2nd Cavalry Regiment. VARPALOTA, Hungary — A protest turns violent as rioters throw molotov cocktails in a simulated riot, Varpalota, July 20. The riot-control demonstration falls under Brave Warrior, a Hungarian exercise that focuses on combined maneuvers and freedom of movement. Brave Warrior runs concurrent with Saber Guardian, a U.S. European Command, U.S. Army Europe-led exercise conducted in the Black Sea Region.
