TBLI CONFERENCE offers a wealth of opportunity for networking with like-minded investors and new business partners. We invite attendees to share your ideas, challenges, and solutions and to learn about innovation and investment opportunities in the space.
The one-day program addressed topics for investors and finance professionals striving to better align profits with impact, addressing all asset classes.
On the agenda were sessions on trends in impact investing, impact measurement, ESG integration, sustainable investing in fixed income markets, impact investing in emerging markets, and climate change, to name a few.
This event in Chicago is building on the learnings and discussion at TBLI CONFERENCES held in New York, Amsterdam, Zurich and Oslo previously. We enjoyed continuing the debate with the Chicago impact investing community.
Strivers' Row is three rows of townhouses in western Harlem, in the New York City borough of Manhattan on West 138th and West 139th between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard and Frederick Douglass Boulevard. Originally called the "King Model Houses" after developer David King, they were designed for upper middle class whites and constructed between 1891 and 1893.[1] Different architects worked on each of the three rows, and they are collectively recognized as a gem of New York City architecture.[2]
The northern part of the 139th street group was completed by McKim, Mead and White in neo-Italian style. Designers who contributed to the complex on 138th street include James Lord Brown, Bruce Price, and Clarence S. Luce (Wikipedia)
The multi-agency team members at STRIVE (Safeguarding Through Rapid Intervention) work together to help vulnerable people avoid going into the justice system and facing crises.
The police, housing and finance members share information around existing support in place so they can take the most appropriate action.
Benefits of STRIVE have included preventing homelessness by supporting individuals and families with tenancies, improving financial security through access to support, access to education and employment and reducing police involvement and alcohol and drug use. The service has been found to help people with their mental health and wellbeing and helps keep families together.

Seen here: the centerpiece set, occupying the entire block between 138th and 139th: a yellow-brick Renaissance dream by Bruce Price & Clarence S. Luce. As they completely wrap the interior carriageway, they really give a sense of how this typology was supposed to work. These could be seen as a last gasp of the sort of genteel, low-rise urbanism that was rapidly being replaced, city-wide, by increasingly bulky and barely-regulated mid-rise tenements. Alternatively, we might see them in parallel with contemporary "model tenements," and later "garden apartment" schemes, which both essentially sought to hybridize the tenement and the courtyard model.

Plants with deciduous foliage have both advantages and disadvantages compared to plants with evergreen foliage. Since deciduous plants lose their leaves to conserve water or to better survive winter weather conditions, they must regrow new foliage during the next suitable growing season; this uses resources which evergreens do not need to expend. Evergreens suffer greater water loss during the winter and they also can experience greater predation pressure, especially when small. Losing leaves in winter may reduce damage from insects; repairing leaves and keeping them functional may be more costly than just losing and regrowing them.
