"Whatever course you have chosen for yourself,
it will not be a chore but an adventure if you bring
to it a sense of the glory of striving, if your sights
are set far above the merely secure and mediocre."
~ David Sarnoff
Goodnight my dear friends!
Striving for excellence is motivating. Striving for perfection is demoralising.

I strive to not just walk my dog but to hike with her! We take adventures and explore many trails, it is our passion. New trails give us a whole new appreciation for nature! Her name is Ellie and she is the best hiking companion. I'm just a girl with my dog who loves hiking. This challenge has really kept me motivated and made us stronger! Hiking is something I treasure because it’s the only time I can escape reality and really connect with nature and bond the most with Ellie!
Strive not to obtain more impermanent objects, empty recognition, and transient vices that will never be able to fill that void right in the middle of yourself, but work diligently to find peace and joy and eternal fulfillment from that unmovable space of complete peace and silence.

Blocks of townhouses in West Harlem, originally built by the developer David E. King as the King Model Houses (1891-1893). See introductory comments here.
Seen here: the centerpiece set, occupying the entire block between 138th and 139th: a yellow-brick Renaissance dream by Bruce Price & Clarence S. Luce. As they completely wrap the interior carriageway, they really give a sense of how this typology was supposed to work. These could be seen as a last gasp of the sort of genteel, low-rise urbanism that was rapidly being replaced, city-wide, by increasingly bulky and barely-regulated mid-rise tenements. Alternatively, we might see them in parallel with contemporary "model tenements," and later "garden apartment" schemes, which both essentially sought to hybridize the tenement and the courtyard model.
Norah is a 2007 Spectrum Scholar.
Norah says:
"As an African-American woman striving to succeed in a field that has a limited representation of women of color in high level positions at any federal and local government agency I've worked for thus far, it has become a goal of mine to become one of those professional women. Although I acquired a wealth of experience, my positions were often entry level allowing little room for achieving my goals of becoming a Librarian and an Archivist. I quickly realized that there remained limited higher level opportunities for me without additional education.
As I embark upon this exciting journey in search of my own official librarian position via my new acceptance into my M.L.I.S. graduate program, I believe that my hard work and determination will not only be a catalyst for accomplishment but a means to re-energize the way in which my library serves its diverse community."
Dandelion
The botanical name of the dandelion plant is Taraxacum officinal. ”Taraxacum” is derived from a Greek word, which gives a meaning of altering or stirring up; this is in reference to the health properties of dandelion. The second word, “officinal”, used to be attached to the names of all herbs which were officially recognized.
FASCINATING FACTS:
- Dandelions were introduced from Europe
- in the evening the flowers close.
- young tender Dandelion leaves can be cooked or eaten raw as a salad green
- a Dandelion coffee is made from dried and ground roots; the roots can also be cooked and eaten
- dandelion wine is made from the flowers.
- I shot this almost lying down on the road on a heavy traffic with my shooting buddy as a human shield standing behind me.
...three weeks later
After several inches of snow that managed to stick when all of our mini snowfalls didn't, and freezing temperatures halting the emerging plants, we finally have flowers on the trees and the grey palette is beginning to lift.
