I've run into these women at a few Dallas Comic Cons and found them to be wonderfully delightful costumers, fun to talk to, and fun to take pictures of and with.
and put out to pasture after many years of faithful service. Some thanks.
The day I took this picture, somehow the polaroid filter fell off my camera and I didn't notice it. When I realized it was missing, I went to search the car, on the slim chance it was on the carpet. Immediately I spotted it in the driveway, and alas I had driven over it. The glass didn't break but the threads are shot. Any Suggestion?
This is the pedal nut on the right hand pedal on my bike. I stripped it out trying to get the pedals off to replace them.

A group of core networking volunteers and friends from past events (like What the Hack 2005, Hacking at Random 2009, Chaos Communication Camp 2011, Observe. Hack. This turned into a fusion splicing (fiber splicing) workshop.
One of the many stripped screws on my bike. This one is on my clutch crankcase cover. This one broke my extractor bit.
I applied some "liquid wrench" penetrating oil every 24 hours for a few days, then was able to pry it free with my trusty vice grips, a must have in every home.

The Britannic was stripped back today for a restoration. Built in 2009 it has suffered with numerous setbacks. Discolouration has affected a large portion of the ship and the lights continue to be faulty. Dismantling and rebuilding isn't an option but replacing some of the worst discoloured parts it

Day 156 [6-4-2016]
Back to urbexing. George, Scott, and I decided to get back into our urbexing endeavours by spending a couple hours at the air base that Teddy, Scott, and I found yesterday. Sadly there weren't any open buildings so it wasn't as fun as it could have been. We went to Hunt's and Scott and I ended up buying new backpacks. I bought one that is much smaller than lighter weight than the one that I have been using for the past couple years. I packed it with all of the essentials and wow is it a difference. I now have an amazing walkabout and travel pack to hold all of the essential gear. For our last adventure of the day we picked up Teddy and went to the local abandoned estate to check up with it after so long. The rest of the day was a lot of lounging around and nothing too crazy and adventurous but that is what happens after a ton of urbexing packed into a day. I am tired out but that is always a great feeling knowing that I filled my day up with fun.

Baby Blues: Ten Years and Still in Diapers; The Lives Behind the Lines: 20 Years of For Better or Worse

I frequently call attention to anthologies that contain several months' of reprinted comic strips. These are a valuable way of retaining permanent copies of popular comics since the paper is better and the comics are in a format larger than in newspapers.
A trend in these anthologies is the inclusion of commentary from writers and artists. Andrews McMeel published two such examples in late 1999. The cost, $14.95 each, is high, but the information about how comics are created is priceless.
The first is Baby Blues: Ten Years and Still in Diapers, by Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott. This is the second Baby anthology to include comments in the margins and I would prefer more on how a particular joke or story line was developed and received.
Baby pushes the envelope more than most comics and provokes considerable reaction from readers. Even Bill Keane's Family Circus has drawn criticism from readers concerned about inadvertent depictions of situations hazardous to small children. The wide popularity of Baby Blues provides a barometer of what the reading public will accept.
The second volume, Lynn Johnston's The Lives Behind the Lines: 20 Years of For Better or Worse, contains considerably more commentary than comics. What is useful is Johnson's extensive background material on the characters. She is careful to distinguish between the characters and her family. This is useful corrective to the myth that the strip is almost entirely based on her family.
Much of the commentary comes as a revelation because her insights are not always described in the daily episodes. I admit that my readings of some characters were erroneous. Many novelists could take lessons from Lynn Johnston at creating characters.
We would be fortunate if other writers and artists would put down their thoughts on the creative process in this format. Many creators have left little or no autobiographical material. The recent loss of Charles Schulz and Peanuts reminds us how easily we can lose our legacy.

I have really had a hard time waiting for this day to come. When I found out I needed back surgery I stripped my bike down to give me something to work on while I was out. I sent the parts off to be painted awhile ago. The Doc wouldn't let me ride until after the 4th of July. For some reason it took until now to get it back. I think the wife may have had some to do with that. I will be off flickr for a few days putting it back together. Stay tuned for the finish results. I can't wait. to be riding again. It has been hard watching the guys ride without me. I really hope my back is strong enough to ride, I'll soon know. I will catch up with everyone in a few days. To all have a great weekend.
