The strip of field which always seems to be left fallow, and always full of wild flowers too. more rain again today.
Looks like we have a severe weather warning in place, big storm Francis with winds of 70MPH and heave rain, it may pass North of my location in Sussex but we shall see. Storms in summer sounds crazy so hold onto your hats .
This week I found, quite by chance, on my FastStone software, a possibility called 'image strip builder'.
So I tried it and this is my second attempt, posted for
Saturday Self-Challenge: something I found.
The flowers came from my archive of pink flowers - and I couldn't resist also adding a border to the image.

Another grand tree in Moonshine Park on the Hutt River.
Starkly beautiful in the early morning light.
The Maasai giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi), also called Kilimanjaro giraffe, is the largest subspecies of giraffe. It is native to East Africa. The Masai giraffe can be found in central and southern Kenya and in Tanzania.
It has distinctive, irregular, jagged, star-like blotches that extend to the hooves. A median forehead lump is usually present in bulls.
The giraffe's prehensile tongue is about 45 cm (18 in) long. It is purplish-black in colour, perhaps to protect against sunburn, and is useful for grasping foliage, as well as for grooming and cleaning the animal's nose. The upper lip of the giraffe is also prehensile and useful when foraging and is covered in hair to protect against thorns. The tongue and inside of the mouth are covered in papillae.

I don`t why farmers leave a strip of wild area in the middle and around the edges of a field, if someone knows I would be interested to know as well.
This is two images blended together to get the foreground nice and sharp and one to capture the colour in the sky where I used a lee reverse grad filter to hold back the brighter area.
A former champion of the forest stripped bare for all to see. How the mighty have fallen. Still a magnificent specimen, and for once in conditions that gave this hero the atmosphere he deserved
These hairstreaks are very fast and erratic flyers. They are very hard to track as they fly through light and shadow on the woodland trails where I see them in some years. I rarely see where they land, but this one landed in a great spot close to me, and gave me time to set up for a few shots.
