Flea Market Categories: scavengers, bargain hunters and treasure seekers. I am a treasure seeker of a different kind. I don't go to buy, but to discover those treasures begging to be photographed.
Following iamthediva's challenge this week I asked my partner Ann to draw a string. Unfortunately, I was so inspired by it that I forgot to photograph it, so this is a badly done photoshop tracing/recreation of her string.
String Festival sponsored by the NMH Symphony Orchestra at Northfield Mount Hermon, on November 1, 2015. Photographs by Glenn Minshall.
Cats love playing with string! (I had to wait until she was sleepy to take this photo - until then she was rushing around too much & every attempt was blurred.) For TMSH.
Old Tennessee the cat decides to chew on the string connected to a toy. A nice thick string with a loop tied on the end; with some extra big knots. By the time I found him, only one of four feet of the string was visible hanging out of his mouth; toy dangling.
Off to the veterinarian we go. The doctor quickly determined that the string was not going to come out in either direction; safely. The x-rays showed the string mostly in the stomach and even entering the intestines. So under the knife he went to extract said string.
Two days later he is home recovering, sleeping, purring and being one brave, dignified guy.
I am of course one mentally and financially drained guy!
Me at Jacqueline Wilson's show, she had string going from the wall to the ceiling and it made these awesome shadows that created a really cool pattern.

I made a twin-sized string quilt (it stills needs binding) and had a bunch of blocks leftover so I made two baby quilts. One's an "X" and the other's an "O". I am going to give them to my friend Brooke later this year as a shower gift for her twins.
I mixed Kona solids with vinatge bed linens bought from Whimsie Dots on etsy. I machine stitched the binding, because 1) they are baby quilts, and 2) I am lazy that way.

My boyfriend always says: the cheapest cat toys are the best... well, it works at my home - sometimes improvised toys are better then expensive ones!
Viewed a video on "Living St Louis" about St Louis artist, Bessie Lowenhaupt, who reduced her subject to the essential elements. I became interested in her paintings because I could actual recognize what she painted.
