String 040 looked kind of fishy to me

It died hitting an awesome forehand winner. But it didn't quite die there as it survived long enough to finish off the match in winning style ;-)

Taken from the book, Fresh Fabric Treats. This was such a fun quilt to make! I used 1 jelly roll and 1 honey bun. The foundation for the blocks is Kona Snow. Chunk approved!

This is the view of the Gulf of Mexico from the Galveston Seawall at night. The two-toned sand is caused by shadows from different light sources. If you look at the far right side, you can see my shadow, bending over holding the camera on a low bench, which is why this is as clear as it is..

There are at least twenty ships on the horizon, defining it sea from sky. This is how I am used to seeing the ocean at night - alive and glimmering in the distance. Tankers and shrimp trawlers and rigs all along the horizon. Just like the stars, they are there during the day too - but we can't see them.

In Navarre and other places we've been in the panhandle of Florida, all that is missing. It's completely dark at night - no ships - no boats of any kind. And it's just plain unsettling. Reminds me of "Silent Spring", in a weird kind of way. What do kids in Florida look at when they stroll the beach at night? They don't get to see the string of lights along the horizon, and wonder what kind of ship it is, and where it's going to - or coming from.. Pity...

The old man was playing something on this weird 2 string citar. Too bad the film was over.

Bert, a mule with the Ninemile pack string, waits to be fitted with his new set of shoes for the 2011 season. The U.S. Forest Service Northern Region pack string continues their work this year hauling freight in and out of wilderness, educating “Leave No Trace” wilderness management to the backcountry horse and stock communities, and represent the agency at shows, expositions, and other events seen by nearly 100,000 people. The pack string is currently the only one of its kind in the entire nation.

Flea Market Categories: scavengers, bargain hunters and treasure seekers. I am a treasure seeker of a different kind. I don't go to buy, but to discover those treasures begging to be photographed.

Following iamthediva's challenge this week I asked my partner Ann to draw a string. Unfortunately, I was so inspired by it that I forgot to photograph it, so this is a badly done photoshop tracing/recreation of her string.

Cats love playing with string! (I had to wait until she was sleepy to take this photo - until then she was rushing around too much & every attempt was blurred.) For TMSH.

...changing my very old guitar strings, for fear of tetanus. d'addario strings (10-46) have colored ends which make for photographic fun.

Today I harvested the last tomatoes, composted the spindly remains and put away the string to be used for next year's crop.
