Pizzaria Lola is the only restaurant I've ever been to with a photo booth - and one wall is covered with hundreds of these filmstrips of satisfied customers…it helps that the food is delicious and service is great

This is my Epiphone 7 string Les Paul (Limited Edition). The other guitars are an Ibanez S Series, a Hohner JT 60, a cheapo Westfield (?) bass and a Tesco carrier bag.
I'm still working on my string quilt. I was able to piece 12 more blocks this weekend. I need two more to make another row to add.
Tendrils often twirl in this manner, but I've been reading about string theory over the last few weeks and now everything seems awesomely stringy!! :) :)

I cleaned up my overflowing scrap bins over the holidays. After cutting postage stamps, charms, and jelly strips I started making these paper pieced string blocks with the left over scraps.
This string quartet played in a lounge near the restaurant on the Ryndam every evening. They played mostly classical music, but had a limited repetoire. Janet and I went to hear them before dinner almost every night. The two violinists exchanged places and first and second violin, but the young woman seemed to be the leader of the group. As you can see, they did not dress uniformly, or even in the same degree of formality.
My wife bought it at a farming village in central Japan where she took a short trip several days ago.
Now I like to do any extra hitch to lock the first heddle loop in place. Reach between the first and second warps once again and pull up the heddle string.
Fall is here and with the turning of leaves, Fusion will be sponsoring a campus-wide art installation to promote unity through the allusion of strings. By identifying the similarities we share despite our differences, we aim to unite our student body. The project will concentrate on the uniqueness of each student while demonstrating the commonalities between all of us in a beautiful way. Whether your niche at Lehigh lies within athletics, Greek life, theater, engineering, music, politics, or design - as students, we nonetheless share one common characteristic, being a member of the Lehigh community. By taking your own string and weaving in and out of the display, Fusion’s goal is to both highlight student’s individual strengths while also opening our eyes to the entire student body.
The String Theory project will be taking place from November 2nd-4th at 11-5pm on the UC Front Lawn! Swing by on your walk home from class to make your mark on Lehigh while also meeting students you might have never crossed paths with. Our true passion for design as well as involvement in Lehigh community will be showcased as we invite you to join Fusion in making a difference. A member of Fusion, Hayden Hosto, 18', noted, “I am very excited we are reaching outside of our normal design work to influence the Lehigh community. I think this is a great opportunity to show Lehigh students that we’re “knot” so different.” Join us in grabbing a string and making an impact!

"Warrior Woman teaches you to pick your battles wisely."
From the String Doll Gang, handmade in Thailand using one continuous piece of string. She even has little swords (how cute!), um, 4 eyes (but really, she can look at you from all angles - she really does have eyes in the back of her head), and awesome giant hair. Oh, of course, the little bell for the added charm. ;)
At first I found the other string doll creations rather scary looking (the mummies and creapy ones), but then I saw her, my Warrior Woman, and fell instantly for her. So cute!

Nathan, re-stringing some crab traps, it is late in the season, but he wanted to see if any crabs might still be lingering in the area.
This is part of some art at the art museum in Detroit. Must be some guitar string kind of wires wrapped around several framing objects.
This goes out to all my friends who really can sew: Emma, Christine, Hana, Piper, Bozena to name a few. And the daddy to whom I haven’t even had time to tell this story.
Madeline put on her ballet class pink tights and discovered there was a hole in the toes. A couple of holes, in fact. I offered that I could cut them to her ankle, and make those kind of tights, you know, the feetless kind. Don’t know what they are really called. “but then my feet will be cold,” she said, the practical-when-it-suits-her girl. “Well, I guess we could sew it.” I said. Not really knowing what I was getting myself into, and second guessing my ability when it was really 3 holes in the toe, in fact, there was not much toe left. And I’m not good at sewing. But once suggested to a 3 year old, any idea is hard to retract. We got out the pink thread and the needle and I started. “I want to sew,” Madeline then says.
I momentarily rethink my resolve that giving a 3 year old a needle was not a good idea. And then, I threw it out the window. My St Barth clarity gone with the vacation and return of major sleep deprivation. After all, I’ll help her. I thought.
So we, did the toe together. I held the tights tight and she pulled the needle threw in the spots where I pointed. Not badly either. (mended toe)
Then she says, “I want to do it by MYSELF.” The magic words. As we had discovered more holes higher up in the tights. What the hell, I thought. The worst that can happen was she’d prick her finger (I had already demonstrated how sharp the needle was) and her brother was asleep.
So she went at it. When she was finished, she showed it to me, and said, “There, see? Good as new.”
That’s my girl. Embroidery 101 coming up.

We were in NYC for a few days, and I had just finished a call with Moxiee. I told her I was having an iced tea in Little Italy and that the festival was indeed happening. She signed off with "Look for the String Cheese Guy!" 2 minutes later, there he was.
Each string of rail is numbered and labeled with its heat number.
Although girder rail is the de facto standard for streetcar installations around the world, its use is relatively uncommon in the US; it's only rolled in mills overseas, and Buy America requirements for federally-funded projects prevent agencies from acquiring the girder rail. Instead, most use T-rail with a molded rubber flangeway, which isn't an ideal solution since the flangeway lacks perfect rigidity and can be deformed during the process of pouring the roadway slab or torn up from contact with wheel flanges. US-produced 112TRAM block rail has also recently been installed in Portland and is gaining acceptance. However, since Seattle's First Hill Streetcar project is funded locally (via Sound Transit's taxing authority), the preferred 51R1 can be used for this installation.
